Unlike most of my fellow conservatives, I actually enjoyed President Obamas recent speech at a fundraiser about how youre not responsible for your lifes outcome (If youve got a business you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.)
Why, I liked it so much I went back and listened to it in the original Cherokee (Elizabeth Warren: Nobody in this country got rich on his own nobody!).
My only objection is that the focus of their comments was too narrow. The president says, if you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help.
Hes right, of course. But why leave out our fellow unsuccessful Americans? Dont they count, too?
For example, when I drive into work each morning, there are always a couple of guys panhandling at the bottom of the Columbia Road off-ramp. Standing in the shade of the I-93 overpass, shaking their hand-written cardboard signs into the windshields of working, guilt-ridden commuters, theyve got a pretty good set-up.
But they arent doing it alone. Theyre begging for beer money beneath a highway the rest of us paid for. If some company hadnt shipped all that vodka to the nearby liquor store, they wouldnt have the cardboard to make those Im not gonna lie I need money for booze signs in the first place.
And what about all those folks living off our EBT cards?
Theyre safe to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets with our cash benefits because of, to borrow Warrens words, police forces and fire forces the rest of us paid for. When they use their food stamps to stock up for a weekend cookout, they dont have to worry that marauding bands will come and seize the...

Speaking of slackers in the basement, has anyone seen the new KFC add for their chicken bites? A slacker man child is playing video games in the basement and convinces his idiot parents he is on the ball because the bites are “real chicken”. I’m just trying to wrap my head around what group of consumers that ad is aimed at.
Seriously, Obama (and "Chief" Warren) is saying ‘Rich’ should pay more. He does not expect slackers to pay, hence the omission.
Amen!! If your MOTHER never married your FATHER and was on WELFARE, she did that with the GOVERNMENT HELPING to be an UNWED MOTHER and helped you to be raised without a father!! Thank the Government.
Excellent Twist :>)
Yes I saw that and they made sure he was a white idiot.
Good one over the next week I suspect we will see alot more of these funny cartoons and spots. That statement took the cake... yes the one I baked, no wait i didn’t make it the person who made the pan did and the chicken that laid the eggs.... for real this guy!
thanks for the pic it made me LOL...I’m so grateful, too long since I enjoyed a good belly laugh like that.
But what about the 45 percent or so of our fellow citizens who pay zero? Shouldnt they share the, uh, credit, too?
Correct me if Im wrong here, but arent all these roads we built and schools we paid for and the cops and firefighters, etc. arent they available for use by the rich and poor alike? Isnt the illegal immigrant headed to pick up a government-subsidized rent voucher driving on the very same roads as the hardest-working plumber or most successful doctor?
Michael Graham - one of my new favorites... Enjoy.
This is a major subject with me, I wrote up a reply but I think I will put it in a vanity.
Obama believes that other people are responsible for the good things that people do but not bad things. Applying this reasoning: Apple Computer does not owe its success to Steven Jobs but to the prior construction of the power grid; kids flash mobbing Wallmart are not the fault of God-free schools or fatherless families; etc.
(Book of Genesis)
Chapter 1
1
IN THE beginning G-d created the heaven and the earth.
2
Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of G-d hovered over the face of the waters.
3
And G-d said: ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light.
4
And G-d saw the light, that it was good; and G-d divided the light from the darkness.
5
And G-d called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
