After defeat of cybersecurity bill, Obama weighs executive order
The Hill ^ | 8/4/12 | Brendan Sasso

Senate Republicans recently blocked cybersecurity legislation, but the issue might not be dead after all.

The White House hasn't ruled out issuing an executive order to strengthen the nation's defenses against cyber attacks if Congress refuses to act.

“In the wake of Congressional inaction and Republican stall tactics, unfortunately, we will continue to be hamstrung by outdated and inadequate statutory authorities that the legislation would have fixed," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said in an emailed response to whether the president is considering a cybersecurity order.

“Executive orders” ARE NOT democratic. They are fascist. Somebody needs to brief the Kenyan on how a republic works.

So when will the Mittster point this out.

Barack could come back, of course, and point out how Mitt basically emperor-fied gay marriage in Massachusetts (although Mitt can at least say he did it because the court wanted it, something Barack can’t say here).

Many civil libertarians will have to rethink their reflexive liberal bias with this kind of stuff going on.

The Kenyan knows jolly well how a republic works. He’s here to punk it as badly as he can. When Mitt walks all over him in November (which is far more a reflection on Barack than on Mitt) the humiliated lame duck will probably NOT tuck his tail between its legs, but rather fire off every possible punking EO he can. It will be extremely ugly. Hang on folks.

So how/when did Exec Orders become the Third (and Dominant) house of Congress!? Like anything that gets abused they have to go. Has the Constitutionality of EOs ever been challenged?

Did the bill fail because of opposition to its main area of cybersecurity, or because of unacceptable unrelated riders attached to it?

If Romney does win, his first action needs to be to throw out ALL of the Kenyan’s EOs. America don’t need them. That’s not how it is supposed to work in this country.

Emperor Ubama, why don’t you just issue an executive order abolishing congress and usurping their powers?

Who needs a Congress?

It's just a waste of money in a dictatorship anyway.

Sure, Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer. But, as a whole, the GOP will not challege EO's because of the disturbing belief in the unitary executive theory and other forms of kingship.

So that makes Obama a dictator huh?

First a Congress that will not act to reign in a President who abuses the office.

Second a public that does not demand that Congress act.

Really ..?? I think we’ve been demanding plenty .. they just refuse to listen.

That’s why the Tea Party was born .. because our own congress-people have refused to listen to “We the people”.

If the current repubs in congress think ‘10 was bad .. wait’ll we get through with ‘12.

Are people FINALLY catching on to these executive orders? They’ve been going on forever.

My tagline used to say impeach over a year ago and then I gave up.

Back in the Watergate days, it was one dollar to send a telegram to your congressperson. They were flooded with one-dollar telegrams until the tide turned in favor of impeachment and Nixon resigned before it could happen.

Where’s the flood of telegrams?

That’s why the Tea Party was born .. because our own congress-people have refused to listen to “We the people”.

The Tea Party is a strong vocal minority but it does not carry much weight in the Democrat controlled Senate.

The Usurper in Chief is doing what the Dims in the Senate want but can’t get by the Republicans in the House so they are fine with what Obama does with his executive orders. The Dims in Congress do not care a wit about the Constitution so they won’t fight to protect their own power. As long as they get their perks of office they are fine letting Obama have his way.

We need educated voters. We need more Tea Party candidates.

I do not believe we are a “minority” - I believe we are the former “silent majority” .. and I’m one of them.
