Woman laughs, accidentally swallows knife
Los Angeles Times ^ | August 3, 2012 | Rosie Mestel

"Unexpected Swallowing of a Knife" -- that's a grabbier title than most ones you see in medical journals.

The short item, a clinical image in this week's New England Journal of Medicine, explains that a 30-year-old woman with a history of bulimia had been bragging to friends that she no longer had a gag reflex. She put the knife into her mouth and then laughed -- at which point she swallowed the knife.

"Being as we are guests in this thread, please wipe your feet on that big mat over there before entering."

Roger. Where'd you want me to put the espressyoself machine?

Nice digs, CS, and thanks for the August invite. I've always had a soft spot for threads where Darwin Award aspirants are "honored."

How lovely! The bath-salts jazz really creeped me out.
Thank you very much.

Is this our august home?
I will ping my lust as soon as I know for sure.

"Is this our august home?"

"August" used to sometimes mean noble and impressive.

Now, it has "sunk" to this.

Try as you might, you cannot beat 'Face's inadvertent typo humor.

Has she pinged her lust at you yet?

Relax! You didn't do anything wrong. It's Darksheare's Fault:

"Is this our august home?
I will ping my lust as soon as I know for sure."

You see, if you're setting up a Mars Launch, or something, it's important to have someone around who notices details.

Most times, like now, it's just a dang nuisance.

My cat is probably just waiting for the buzzing and clicking to stop before deciding that I’m a snack.

Good morning. It’s raining here, but the bees and the hummingbirds are fighting over the feeder on the sunroom window, anyway.

Good morning. My blood pressure is all over the place. It’s high in the mornings and low in the afternoons. Almost as if I weren’t taking the meds. CFIDS is definitely insidious.

My hormones are all over the place, too ;-).

Do you have a magic formula for getting teenagers out of bed in the morning, and then *keeping* them out of bed? I swear I would sell all the beds and make them sleep on the carpet, if the state didn’t require that every family member have a permanent bed available!
