Mormon-Catholic pairing makes for historically unique GOP ticket

With the choice of devout Catholic Paul Ryan as his running mate, Mitt Romney, a Mormon, has arguably crafted the most religiously unique ticket in presidential history. Both religions have interesting precedent in presidential politics, however, with varying degrees of success.

John F. Kennedy was famously the first and only Catholic to be elected president. Less than two months before the 1960 election, JFK addressed the Greater Houston Ministerial Association in a hope to allay fears that the pope would use him as a conduit into American politics.

Mitt Romney's father, George, also a Mormon, was a serious Republican candidate for president in 1968. Most political observers believe he didn't get far enough in the process to have his Mormon faith fully examined or questioned. Perhaps facing a more determined press than in '68, Mitt's Mormonism was questioned in his first run for president. He, like JFK, felt the need to address his faith publicly and did so in December 2007.

“And RC, I’ve never seen you say anything nice about Catholics, so “tempting” you to become Catholic is about as likely as “tempting” me to eat onions. No way, no how.”

I love onions. And Michael Voris, as well as the late Bishop Sheen, I’m ashamed to say always tempt me to become Catholic. They stand for something which most Catholics do not anymore. He is a credit to your church, and on every Video I see around the internet of Voris are oodles of posts of people proclaiming they are converting. His passion is wasted on an unbiblical, and ungrateful, Church organization.

You can have the Onions, Michael Voris and his paid “oodles” fan club.

>>His passion is wasted on an unbiblical, and ungrateful, Church organization.<<

*sigh*
I love being proven right!

Mitt Romney sought permission from the LDS to run on a pro-abortion platform in Massachusetts. And he got it, of course. And considering the mind-controlling and cultic nature of Mormonism, no leader in the LDS, no matter how minor, can be compared to the leaders in historical Christianity. The institutionalized lying, and emphasis on obedience, are well documented about your hell-bound church.

They’re both morons, Obama and Mitt, so I guess you’re back to stage one.

Just to be clear that’s Paul Ryan not the kooky Paul.

I once saw a segment on the animal planet about a headless cat that was still alive, which the family kept alive by feeding it.

I suspect that if that headless cat had an (R) by its name, you’d still vote for it.

Actually, I’d prefer it over the current nominee. Electing Romney is like reelecting Obama, except this time we’ll be blamed for the Great Economic Collapse that is coming.

No cute little picture to back yourself up this time? You’re getting lazy. The entire political fight going on right now can be condensed into a series of cartoons with different riddles all possessing the same, single answer. When politics becomes a comedy, the clown is President.

Don’t forget the Mennonites.
That might be our one hope to avoid Obamacare and still drive cars.....

Actually, the Kenyan is a assclown. I can hardly wait until November when the Obama freak show comes to an end. Will you be sticking around?

Nothing will give me greater pleasure than to watch the Mittbots make excuses for their new Dear Leader for 4 years.

Well...now we have a Muslim hiding as a black liberation communist “Christian” paired with whatever Biden claims to be - lapsed pro-abortion Catholic?

That’s way more weird than Romney/Ryan.

Well, let’s re examine Obama's faith then.

Okay...how about Obama being born Muslim, raised and schooled in Islamic schools for Obama's early years then 20 years in the church of Reverend Wright’s hate rhetoric about America. Oh yes, Obama threw Wright under his bus when that bit was no longer working. Take this religious thingy out of the campaigns - that leaves a man raised by Communist fathers in another country and a man raised by American parents with American values...hummmmm

No pay - what a crock.
My uncle is a former bishop - he got plenty, to reimburse his “expenses”.
Romney’s family goes back to the beginning of Mormonism, he is as ingrained as one can be.
Now that my uncle (the former bishop one) is elderly, he asked his now bishop permission to do all kinds of things. An example, when my son preached for the first time, I asked him and my aunt to join us, his words “I need to ask my bishop”, he called back “sorry we will not be there”.
My youngest’s Mormon friend from work had to ask for permission to attend church, her bishop said yes, but ONLY because my child had gone to ward with her.
Please, these are simple things, don’t try and tell us Romney did not ask for permission to run for governor or president.

Hellbound church? Say what?

you know Gods will and plan no better than any of us. You’re doing traditional Christians no favors with your vitriol.
