“considering the park rangers have to deal with bears, cougars and drug farmers... i can almost see the need for ammo.”

They also have to deal with well armed illegal alien Mexican drug cartels. There have been ‘shoot outs’ over these pot plantations every year.

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” -— Barrack Hussain Oboma
If we’re going to create some kind of national police force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces, isn’t this rather a big deal? Shouldn't some one be questioning the motives? Shouldn't someone at least be questioning all these new arms orders for people who don't necessarily need them?

And if this civilian national police force shoot as well as NYPD’s finest at the Empire State Building, I don't know whether to duck for cover or stand in front of them.

Are we talking about creating a police state here?
The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn’t count reserves or National Guard. In 2007, the U.S. Defense budget was $439 billion.
Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force bigger and more expensive than that?

If not, why did he say it? What did he mean?

So far, despite attempts to find out, the Obama campaign is still not talking.

Question everything. The answers are important.

A friend of mine is a ranger with the NFS. She started out at Arcadia National Park in 1989 and carried a .357 for protection against black bears and rabid animals. She left Acadia in 1994 and worked at sites in and around Washington DC for fifteen years before returning to Acadia in 2009. Now, when she goes out in the woods, she wears a Kevlar vest and carries an AR-15.

The Boston gangs operate meth labs throughout the park and then run their product down to the city in speedboats. She's had a couple of run-ins with them in the past couple of years.

>"didnt 8 people in New Yawk get shot by the cops that were rescuing them just the other day.

Nannyburg is looking to ban ceramic planters. Those flower pots caused a lot of ricochet rounds to go random.

Without the dangerous flower pots the cops can spray and pray at will without the danger of rounds going stray.

The Forest Service has armed rangers and police, and has for decades. There are around 800 of them in fact. That works out to less then 350 rounds of ammunition each. I'm beginning to suspect that since that first SS purchase popped up, people have begun to see connections everywhere, even when there isn't one. We saw this with the whole "Freeway Cannibal" incident - all of sudden, stories of local barbarism that, while abnormal, were hardly unheard of, went national as people began seeing things moving every corner and began stringing together unrelated dots. In order to show that there is indeed something going on, it would be necessary to not just take a case of current ammunition purchases, but rather demonstrate that such orders are abnormal. That means checking on ammo orders in prior years, and see whether, relative to the number of armed personnel, annual purchases have shown a dramatic increase.

I do question everything. Finding motivation for what people do is important to me.

My previous statements are merely based on the math and the funding realities of the fedgov.

The motivation for same is up to much speculation

Within 30 days?!?!?!

The FS has been very encroaching in many western states. Our County Sheriff had to get very stern and threatening with them. They wanted to (and probably have not given up) make it so basically no one living here could access fed forest lands for anything. No wood cutting permits lately, they don’t want mushroom pickers, and they close off roads. And as for illegal MX marijuana gardens???? All they do is warn us citizens to steer clear!!!

The government purchases could just be in advance of a possible re-election of 0bama WHICH WOULD CAUSE CITIZENS TO HAVE A RUN ON AMMUNITION depleting supply thereby affecting government supply.

I wonder how much they have purchased in each of the last five years.

Can’t someone can get that information?

This does not, however, seem to have anything to do with the Forrestry Service.
If you go to the link you find the purpose for this purchase is:

This acquisition is being advertised as a set-aside for; Self-Certified Small Disadvantaged Business, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Veteran Owned Business.

As a Veteran I need to come up with a business where the government will buy my ammo!

But I bet DEBORAH DEVAULL will know. From the PDF - ddevaull@fs.fed.us

How soon after emailing her asking that question will I have black helicopters hovering over my house, do ya think?

Here in CA, rangers for town, county and state parks run up against heavily armed Mexican drug gang members growing week. Their encampments are usually heavily fortified. The LEOs that raid the camps go in with some big armaments.
