Bill Nye ‘The Science Guy’ Hits Evolution Deniers
abcnews.go.com ^ | Aug 27, 2012 | Kevin Dolak

Posted on 08/27/2012 1:42:32 PM PDT by Tailgunner Joe

In a clip posted to online knowledge forum Big Think via YouTube, former children’s show host Bill Nye spoke out against the denial of evolution, saying such views harm young people especially and hamper scientific progress.

Nye, who hosted the educational show “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” which aired on PBS Kids from 1993 through 1998, made the statements in a clip posted online on Thursday, and has since been viewed over one million times. In the clip, Nye praises the United States for its contribution to technological innovation, but says that the denial of evolution is unique to the country.

“People still move to the United States. And that’s largely because of the intellectual capital we have, the general understanding of science,” Nye said in the clip. “When you have a portion of the population that doesn’t believe in that, it holds everybody back, really.

“Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science, in all of biology. It’s like, it’s very much analogous to trying to do geology without believing in tectonic plates. You’re just not going to get the right answer. Your whole world is just going to be a mystery instead of an exciting place,” he added.

Nye made a three-stop tour through New Hampshire earlier this summer to tout President Obama’s education policies while making a push for science and engineering programs. He has endorsed Obama’s reelection bid.

silliness, survive = reproduce

those that survive to reproduce are the 'fittest'

Your attempt to salvage the tautology conundrum of evolutionists is in itself an exercise in futility. If you insist on changing the definition of "survive" to mean "reproduce," you are required to apply the definition uniformly, not selectively to one side of the equation.

Thus, "The survival = those who survive to reproduce, of the fittest = those who survive to reproduce."

The absurdity of the tautology is not mitigated: "Those who survive to reproduce are those who survive to reproduce."

One day, when this life has run its course, we will all stand before the One whose existence and creative work shall be denied no more. In that hour the atheistic fantasy that everything we know is the result of blind chance will evaporate as so much ash and smoke.

“It is no valid objection that science as yet throws no light on the far higher problem of the essence or origin of life” (Darwin, Charles. The Origin of Species. 6th edition, 1882. p. 421).

“My church teaches creation, but it doesn’t deny evolution.”, YOU need to find a new church. If a “church” cannot get Genesis right then EVERYTHING else they “teach” is suspect.

If my church started spewing nonsense about the earth being 6,000 years old, I'd laugh my way out the door.

Bill Nye is a big hero of the Left. He pushes man-made global warming and he's an Obama supporter.

On this topic of saving the children from creationism, he's a Chicken Little alarmist. There will be no shortage of scientists in the near future.

Here's the video in question: Bill Nye: Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children

Regarding the "Obama supporter" link in my previous post, here's one that won't redirect to a sign-up page.

The Bible and evolution are incompatible.

Genesis says that suffering and death came into the world after Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden. Evolution says that man didn’t show up on the scene until millions of years of suffering and death had already happened.

liked his show, but definitely wrong on creation/evolution.

God claims all will be without excuse, evidence for Him and His fingerprints are all over creation-let alone everyone’s individual soul which only faith in Jesus can fill!

So I guess since you can’t trust Genesis to be accurate, tell me how do you chose what else to believe in the Bible?

What about the geneology from Adam through David to Christ?? Was that accurate? Or how about Jesus and the Appostles statements that they believed in the global flood?

Tell me how do you chose?

There has to be a BASIS of truth,
and you can pick God’s Word, or you can pick your own understanding and reason. But tell me, what is that “reason and understanding” based on? How do you know it’s sound? You don’t.

If you pick human reason and understanding, you’re planting your feet firmly in mid-air and saying you stand on truth.

If you say “I will choose, decide, and interpret the Bible, saying it’s true here, untrue there, and alegorized in another place”, you’re still putting your human reason and understanding ABOVE the scripture as the basis of truth.

Most humanists don’t even understand what they are basing their worldview on, much less understand that it’s a vapor.

Yep, there are multiple reasons why you can’t compromise with the world on this.

Too bad, folks. You gotta choose, and face the consequences of that choice.

Worldly scorn for choosing scripture as the source of truth,
or Devine scorn for choosing man’s “wisdom” as your source of truth.

Christians need to to get beyond the stories we were all taught in Sunday school and learn about the three earth ages. Jesus talked about “the world that was, the world that is and the world that is to come”.
Research the KATABOLE, or “throwing down” of Satan and his angels after the rebellion.

Noah’s flood was not the first!

The Bible and evolution are incompatible.

So are the two creation stories in Genesis, if you take them as documentary scientific reporting.

There’s only one creation story.

The first thing that occurs to me about Genesis isn’t that it’s “documentary science”, since all those principles known to us as “science” are part of God’s creation, and our understanding of them changes every day. That’s understandable, considering that His ways are so far above our fallible minds.

So many of these movers and shakers of evolutionism turn out to be fanatical left-wingers, marxists and hypocrites.

Bill Nye is just as fanatical as Richard Dawkins. Both are lying hypocrites who hate the history of American culture, instead panting for a blind secularist Euro-state and are big supports of Barrack Obama, the most anti-American elected official I can recall.

These big evolution leftists are the fringe fanatics and they reject the very foundation of our republic, that we "are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights".

Nye has a half empty head that reveals his empty soul.

That’s exactly what I am saying: YOU CAN’T ‘Pick and Choose’ you either believe it all (or logically you haven’t really thought this through)!

I will go with another view.

“The world is trying the experiment of attempting to form a civilized but non-Christian mentality. The experiment will fail; but we must be very patient in awaiting its collapse; meanwhile redeeming the time; so that the Faith may be preserved alive through the dark ages before us; to renew and rebuild civilization, and to save the world from suicide.” T.S. Elliot

The Catholic church is open to the concept of evolution.

Amen.

Which makes sense, considering that 90% of what we consider “science” was created/invented/discovered by devout Catholics, with no conflict with the Church.
