Texas voter ID law struck down

A federal court on Thursday blocked a controversial new voter ID law in Texas, ruling that the state failed to show that the law would not harm the voting rights of minorities.

The three-judge panel in the historic case said that evidence also showed that costs of obtaining a voter ID would fall most heavily on poor African Americans and Hispanics in Texas.

Evidence submitted by Texas to prove that its law did not discriminate was “unpersuasive, invalid, or both,” wrote David. S. Tatel, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, in the panel’s 56-page opinion.

The ruling will likely have political implications in the coming elections...

How the he## do these poor, disenfranchised minorities apply for welfare without a photo ID?

I simply cannot say what I think should happen with these judges and their ilk. All I can say is that if it happens, I’d dance a jig....

Get used to another 4 years (at least) of them. Romney put liberal judges in Mass. He loves them the most.

So, I take it these poor minorities aren't getting married, attending school, buying booze, ALL of which require an ID?

From the Azz Press...

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says the state will appeal the rejection of its voter ID law to the U.S. Supreme Court and is confident of prevailing.
Abbott said the ruling Thursday by a federal court in Washington was "wrong on the law" and stops Texas from using the same Election Day measures being used in Georgia and Indiana.

The enemy within wears black robes and feigns allegience to the US Constitution. Tyrants rule over us. Looks like war to me necessary to crush these cretins who would destroy us.

But I always show my voter ID and they look up my address when I vote.

This judge is in the hands of BO and should be investigated..

These same poor blacks and Hispanics have to have ID to get their welfare checks, drivers license, food stamps, etc, etc,so why not to vote..We had better watch the polls when they go to vote and if the Muslim Communist wins Texas there had better be an all out check on the people that did the voting..

This is the scariest race of all times,if this communist gets back in we will all be his slaves unless we rebel and that is what it will be..No way this bastard can win with out cheating

Does someone have a link to the actual decision. As far as I can tell, it is not up on the Court’s website.

As I understand it, they claimed something about the Texas law was harsher than other laws that have been upheld.

Of course, the idiot media fails to offer the faintest clue as to what.

Why crap like this doesn’t produce intense anger among voters is beyond me. It is a sane requirement (validating you are who you say you are). If the leftards were not evil, they would respond by helping people get ID - something they very likely already have. Instead they don’t even try to hide their intent to commit fraud.

Pure bullshit, as usual.

No Sir. I’m convinced that the limp-wristed metrosexual marxist in the White House, hates TX. Which is OK from this Texan’s point of view - because I hate him too!

Pretext: voter ID will hurt minorities.

Proof:The court tells Texas to prove this as a negative.

Genius of the Court. Insanity.

I just had to register my kid for school. The list of ID materials was a mile long — social security number, birth certificate, 3 proofs of residence, a current drivers license with a CURRENT address that matched the proof of residence ....

they treated us like criminals until we brought in the required proof to attend this particular school district.

Do these blacks and hispanics at all enter anywhere into society through school or other institutions?

This is total FARCE on behalf of our federal government. How can they lump two entire RACES of people and call them all “disadvantaged and/or too poor/stupid to be able to produce valid ID??
