Posted on 09/01/2012 8:02:54 AM PDT by pistolpackinpapa

Those of you who listened to Rush yesterday already know this, but: Just as he was coming upon a commercial break, at one point in the broadcast, he closed out with this statement: "Latest poll shows 77 percent of Missourians forgive Todd Akin. He trails McCaskill by only one point. Hmmmmmmm.........."

Newt defended him yesterday

Rick Tyler, Newt's former campaign manager, is now working with the Akin campaign.

The Akin “conroversy” brought out just how many will murder innocent babies.

If you allow the rape and incest exceptions you are simply setting vague limits on whic innocent baies you will murder.

No question is more fundamental than “are you comfortable with killing a baby to make your own life or someone else’s life more materially satisfying ?”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

While we have the same goals, we must also be politically and incrementally pragmatic.

If you try to get everything all at once, you will most definitely alienate the needed middle, and fanatically energize the opposition base. Then you will never get anything.

Best is to take this in steps. Eliminate 99% of abortions now. Once the culture gets acclimated, the last 1% should be easy.

...all you “I've got 1000 cases of ammo in my shed” conservatives.

You've said a lot about yourself and nothing about anyone else with that statement. LOL

FWIW there is no account for the handle ‘admin’ so when you put that in the ‘to’ line you aren’t pinging anyone.

Looks like the Liberal Pro-Abort PhonyCons are backtracking....quick, call Sean Hannity so he can whine like a liberal schoolgirl again....

I think the PhonyCons Saul Alinsky tactics are not working. Social Conservatives are the base of the GOP....and the GOP cannot win without them. Go try and beat Democrats with a coalition of Illegal Aliens and Log Cabin Gays

Anything less is *that* clown's fault.

As I've asked you before: whose fault would it be if Akin wins and Romney loses? I don't expect such an outcome but perhaps the people of Missouri would like a real conservative and not the phony one at the top of the Republican ticket.

It's probably a stretch but I could see some independents splitting their tickets and voting for someone who has firm convictions (even if the voter isn't that wild about the convictions) and a waffler who opportunistically says whatever he thinks you want to hear. I know several people who voted for Ronald Reagan twice even though they didn't agree much with his politics but were attracted to the sincerity of his convictions. There is something very unnerving about a candidate who won't tell you what he or she really believes or who lack convictions and flip flops all over the place - you just don't know what you are getting.

If you're defining what you said I already knew that. Kind of obvious from the direct statement "I've got 1000 cases of ammo in my shed."

If you're saying that I, personally, have more than 1k cases of ammo then you're wrong. Maybe a thousand rounds. Maybe. I wouldn't store ammo in my shed either. That's just dumb.

No translation needed to see how you think though. LOL

a reason why the GoP-e turned on Akin in a flash?

He backs auditing the Fed. a silly little issue but.. in this day and age, when your own party leaders shy away from digging where they have their own gardens and secrets planted, why is transparency such a bad thing when so much is at stake?

Social Conservatives are the base of the GOP....and the GOP cannot win without them.

Akin doesn't need to appeal to Social Conservatives. He already has them in his corner, every last one. He needs moderates and swing voters. If he loses these two demographics to McCaskill, he will lose the election. You can bank on this.

Go try and beat Democrats with a coalition of Illegal Aliens and Log Cabin Gays

Go try and beat Democrats without moderates and swing voters. Swing voters in particular will decide the election -as they have every single time in the past.

That is an incredible post. I am highly impressed and respect you a ton more. I am so glad you are on our side.

Thanks. It's time to put this issue to rest. We need this Senate seat and like it or not, Akin will be the guy with the (R) after his name. I'm counting on the fact that Americans have short attention spans and if the MSM keeps pressing the issue, they'll hopefully discover that the only voters who continue to be outraged over Akin's comment were those that had no intention of voting for him to begin with.

Tell him to get out, and we aren’t supporting you!

If Akin pulls this out...it’s a harbinger of bad things for Democrats in November.

My “Hmmmmm.....” means: “Very interesting”. As far how long I’ll be staying....not sure. I’ve heard that a lot of good Conservatives have been run off from this sight by people who call themselves Conservatives” but would be considered too extreme for Jesse Helms today. But, you don’t worry about me; I’ll be o.k. Just keep your appointments with your therapist and stay on your meds and you’ll be alright.

You hear wrong. You need to get your hearing checked.

I'm sure you haven't unpacked your bags. That's a good thing -- you won't be here that long.

No surprise.

He apologized quickly, showed the source for his statement, and in the end those who continued to call for his with drawal only displayed their own personal stupidity, hubris, and hypocracy.

I believe the bible says something about no forgiveness from God for those who refuse to forgive others.

Akin doesn't need to appeal to Social Conservatives. He already has them in his corner, every last one.

Social conservatives to not vote for individuals, they vote issues. Many will not be voting Romney strictly on issues.

The concept of pragmatism, while obviously revered by you is considered a vice by social conservatives as it relates to morality.

Basically, you are attempting to pontificate on a philosophy you don't have even the most rudimentary grasp of.
