We Have Not Yet Begun to Fight
Andrew Breitbart's Big Government ^ | September 10, 2012 | Joel B. Pollak

Posted on 09/10/2012 10:21:24 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Yes, Obama is winning. So was Jimmy Carter. So was Michael Dukakis. So would any Democrat, incumbent or not, who enjoyed the fawning coverage the mainstream media heaped on President Barack Obama.

During the Republicans’ convention, the media interrupted, fact-checked, and cut to commercials. During the Democrats’ convention, they swooned, and barely mentioned the awful jobs report that followed the next day.

So? Par for the course. You know who else was winning at this point? John McCain, by 5 points. And Democrats panicked. The media panicked. Tom Friedman of the New York Times told Obama he needed to “start slamming down some phones.”

But soon enough the structure of the race started to change. Lehman Brothers failed. The media targeted Sarah Palin. Obama stood still while McCain suspended his campaign. And he won.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will not, and should not, hope for a market meltdown. Nor can they expect to get help from the mainstream media, even when President Obama has a George H.W. Bush “supermarket scanner” moment and reveals he does not know how to use touch-screen technology to make a phone call.

Unlike Democrats, the GOP contenders are going to have to do things themselves and fight for the win on their own.

And you know what? They can.

The challengers raised $111.6 million in August alone, and they are only beginning to spend money. They have nearly $200 million cash-on-hand, far more than Obama--who has spent his campaign into debt running attack ads against Romney and Ryan that failed to put them away. The super PACs are about to kick into gear, as well. And the battle is all on Obama’s turf, in states he won in 2008.

North Carolina is already moving back into the Republican column....

And like Carter and Dukakis, Obama will go down in flames.

That is how I look at that, that people do not want to be accused of being racist, but once in the privacy of the voting booth, his oppoinent will come out the winner.

Nothing matters until the debates....Romney needs to punch Obama hard right in the gut with the first question and response to throw him off his game and get under that thin skin

Rattle him and make him expose himself as the asshole arrogant prick he is...

When will Romney take on the “defunding_______(name your favorite government program) to give Tax Breaks for the wealthy” meme?

Maybe his team thinks that if you are ignorant enough to believe such nonsense you’re probably going to vote for Mr. Obama no matter what anyone says.

Well, the Gallup poll of likely voters right before the 2008 election (10/31 - 11/02) showed Obama with an 11% lead; the election results saw only a 7.2% margin.

Mitt should suspend his campaign to solve the Chicago teachers’ strike.

Any team that allows the “Big Lie” a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously,” is practicing political malpractice.

And put Paul Ryan in high heels and glasses? Maybe invite Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace to work on the campaign as Ryan aides....

Zero has lost significant support in key areas. I think the article is dead on.

A lot of this will come out in the debates. But Romney can't assume people are aware of anything. He needs to play offense and force Obama to defend his record -- that is his weak point.

100% correct. That was one thing that scared me during our convention...when asked why they didn't layout Obama's failures, one top consultants said (paraphrasing)'people already know that stuff...'. That scares me, because no, the average person knows things stink, but do not hear what Obama is doing to contribute. The evidence is there and Obama needs to be put on the spot.

R&R are also spending a lot of money on GOTV efforts. This past weekend, they hit 20 million voters. I think they have done this several weekends already. Right or wrong, I think they are taking a different approach than over saturation of advertising. People turn it off after a couple dozens ads, even if you agree with the ad. We know there are millions of conservative and evangelicals who didn’t vote in 2008. Enough to have won it for McCain/Palin, and enough to put Romney over the top.

Regardless of what we think of Romney, he is very very bright. R&R are taking a different approach. Time will tell if it is successful.

You’re running for President, Mitt. Swing away.

And.....

This is your ONE AND ONLY shot at it. If you fail your political career is over so you have NOTHING to lose but the presidency.

WE have everything to lose if you fail.

DO NOT be relegated to the dustbin of history because you were too afraid to swing for the bleachers.

I’ve heard that as well, but it sure didn’t help us in 2008. I really thought that was a factor and that McCain would squeak by.

This time around, though, is different. Zippy can’t run against Bush’s record - though he seems to still be trying. He now owns the economy. He owns his record of 4 years with nothing to show for it.

First actual job he’s ever had. EPIC FAIL.

His only hope is massive election fraud.

Stay vigilant, Freepers!

Interesting info. I agree on the tv ads. I actually would like to see them do more web ads...the display ads I see everywhere for Obama are BS, but probably effective at impacting opinion. I would love to see more of it. We have so much info on our side, and it is too expensive to buy tv ad time for all of it. We have to tie the crappy economy to Obama policies. It is easy...and it was all predicted by conservatives.
