Ingraham Trashes Romney Camp For Trailing In The Polls: ‘Should Be Up By Five, Six Points’

Mitt Romney‘s campaign has suffered in the head-to-head polls against President Barack Obama following his party’s national convention. Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham told Fox & Friends on Monday that the Romney campaign has no excuse for being behind in the polls in this economic environment. She went on to say that statements from some of Romney’s staffers asking supporters to ignore the polls reminds her of 2006, when Republicans lost control of Congress.

After introducing Ingraham, Gretchen Carlson played a clip of White House Press Sec. Jay Carney making the case that the economy President Obama inherited from President George W. Bush could not be fixed in four years. Brian Kilmeade noted that the recession of 2008 officially ended in June of 2009, prior to the full implementation of the stimulus.

“They are forever shifting the goalposts here and I think it is incumbent on the Romney campaign to make that very clear,” Ingraham said.

She went on to say that the Romney/Ryan ticket should make a campaign issue of how the Bureau of Labor Statistics calculates the official adjusted unemployment rate.

Carlson accused two of the three major networks of failing to report accurately that the unemployment rate went down in the month of August because 365,000 people left the workforce. Fox then put up a graphic of ABC and NBC aligned with the official logo for the Democratic National Convention.

Ingraham said that the Romney camp needs to be “three times as good” at messaging and branding as Obama to overcome the inherent media bias in favor of the president. “Obama can get out there and get a choreographed bear hug, and it trends on twitter for two days,” said Ingraham.

I guess Laura does not think the polls are rigged such as the recent CNN poll. Does she bother to look at the internals of these polls?

Ingrham is bi-polar. She is one of those “conservatives”
who spend all their time reacting to headlines rather then realizing the Leftist media is an active agent of the Democrat campaign machine.

Although you are right, that she is too focused on immediate post convention polls, she is not incorrect about the messaging. Her statement that we are letting the Democrats move the goalposts is 100% correct.

I have felt for awhile the most effective ad would be showing clips of media/Obama/Biden from June 2009 on talking about the impending recovery, end of recession, etc, and then close with ‘our plan worked’. Then hit today’s downward trends, and counter with our solutions. I am hoping we see that, and soon.

I credit/debit Ingraham (along with Hannity) for knocking down the turnout (in which the House was lost by a collective 80,000 votes) for McVain and/or switching many GOPers to Obama in ‘08. All they did for months was hammer the McAmnesty meme. 2 weeks before the election, they said oh, go and vote. Idjits, the both of them.

I don’t know why Romney wanted to run for President.

It sure isn’t a fire in his belly.

In fact sometimes I think he wants to lose.

I would be attacking the Muslm 24/7.

All they did for months was hammer the McAmnesty meme.

And rightfully so. Here's a concept: let's blame the candidate(s) for their own defeat.

Right Laura... and if Mittsy went after the jug-eared moron like he went after his conservative opponents during the primary, he’d be up by at least 10 points.

The more I listen to Ingraham, the more I hear a concern troll.

She snipes at Palin, she shills and wails over enemies seen and unseen.

Her wonder-twin is Ann Coulter....need I say anymore?

I think she’s wrong about the polling, but right on about branding and messaging. Romney needs his own “Contract For America”, a compelling and easy to remember set of basic principles to run on. His plans are good, and way too vague.

Despite the polls being skewed, Laura is exactly right. The Romney campaign lacks fire and everyday should be putting out the clear issues. So far this campaign has been as wishy-washy as McCane’s. Laura’s idea to put Newt in charge of the campaign is brilliant.

Probally would be up five or six points if we had a conservative in there instead of a liberal. Milt Romney = Bob Dole

The #1 bit of wisdom that I gleaned from George W. Bush was not to pay attention to the “tick-tock” of a 24x7 media. I was never one to look at the scoreboard in business anyway, but that resonated. Libs are 100% poll-driven and look at what that has produced.

The debate will make or break Mitt. At first the two campaigns were total opposites and today you can’t tell them apart. That is why Romney is having hard time connecting.

Romney/Ryan are probably up by 8 if the polls were fair. This reminds me of the old Bozo the Clown show on WGN with Bozo’s ‘Fair’n’Square Contest’ that is always rigged so Bozo wins.

Laura, Laura, Laura... tend to your own house. Your program here in Kansas City was yanked from live status to the 10 PM time slot. Why, Dear? cuz it stinks. You should have been up by 5 points in your time slot. Seems you need some professional help on ‘branding’ and programming and delivery.
That whiney northeastern voice of yours if so grating.
