Polls that are not in line with basic demographic and party affiliation realities are bad polls.

Romney was ahead by 11 points in a NC poll released yesterday. It also shows him getting 30% of the black vote. That’s a bad poll.

Polls which show Romney up double digits with independents but trailing 0 are also bad polls.

Yes, but the judging of polls can be quite definitive now.

1) if it isn’t likely voters, dismiss it.
2) State polls matter more than national polls, particularly swing states.
3) If D’s, R’s and I’s are all above 30%, it’s probably a fair enough sample but, still, watch the breakdown.
4) If incumbents have a favorable rating below 50%, that’s trouble for them. If it’s below 45%, that’s big trouble.

Apply these rules to every poll that comes out and dismiss the rest and you will have a much more accurate idea of the way this election is turning out.

Stolen from Hot Air (doltishly, I forgot to steal the name of the original poster along with it; my bad):

THE FIVE STAGES OF GRIEF FOR ROMNEY SUPPORTERS

Denial: "The polls are all juiced. Everyone knows that... except for this one favorable poll, right here!"

Anger: "Just STFU and get with the damn program, you miserable, wretched, ungrateful conservatives! You're lucky Mitt even allows the scurvy likes of you to vote for him in the first place!"

Bargaining: "Okay, look, God: there’s still those three debates yet to come, right...?"

Depression: "Oh, lord... every time he speaks now, I keep hearing John McCain, instead..." [::fumbles blindly for kitchen knife::]

Acceptance: "Buying a shotgun, generator and lots of canned food. Heading up into the hills. Don't try to find me."

Nope. I don't discount any poll with reasonable splits. For ex., OR has a SurveyUSA poll (good group, by the way): Obama up 4, splits are about a 4-point Dem advantage, which is about right for OR.

Now, is that good news or bad news? I think it's outstanding news. It means Zero is struggling badly in a state the Dems have owned.

“We’re winning: Good poll!
We’re loosing: Bad poll!”

That seems to be the relationship but this poll is also corrobroated by what I see in VA with my own lyin’ eyes. In the past 7-10 days, the momentum has gone over to willard.

I say that as someone who thinks he’s a lousy politician, a sham, a fraud, a poseur, a liberal in sheep’s clothing, etc. I have no intention of voting for him.

Actually when a poll has 5% yes 5% independents, it is not a matter of who is winning or losing. It is a suspect poll. That is what we dealt with yesterday.

Now if the internals of this VA poll have some problem like that, we sohuld doubt it. Have you looked at the internals of this poll?
