Mitt Romney does not think middle class starts at $200,000 a year (Your Going to love this one...)

In an interview that aired Friday morning, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney told "Good Morning America" that the definition of middle income in America is "$200,000 to $250,000 or less."

Romney's answer is a bit confusing, because 200,000 is included in the universe of numbers less than 250,000. If you take the statement at face value, however, it appears that Romney is using the same upper limit as President Barack Obama when it comes to middle-income earners. Obama's proposed tax hike for the richest Americans begins with taxable income over $250,000.

I read somewhere that the median income in Manahattan is $280K/yr. Not that surprising if two professionals combine their incomes. That sounds like a lot, but RENTING a 1000 sq.ft. apartment can run $5000 per month easily in a choice neighborhood.

THIS IS A DISTRACTION!!!!

Romney and Romney's people keep getting distracted by shiny objects -- traps the opposition keep setting for them.

Every time I listen to him under any kind of stress he says a lot of “ums” and “ahs,” and he seems to be giving more just plain unintelligible answers since getting the nomination in an increasingly strained effort to try to take all sides of every issue at the same time. Not that he hasn’t had verbal problems before, like his infamous FOX interview last year with Bret Baier and his disastrous, election-losing answer regarding his tax returns in the South Carolina GOP debate.

“My expenses are 12k/year.”

That’s my health insurance cost.

If I were to go out and purchase a non-subsidized policy, the cheapest appears to be a premium of $256/month (age 58, male, non-smoking) with a maximum benefit payout of $100,000/yr (not much by modern standards), but a very small deductible. Prescription coverage IS included. The quote for my wife is about the same. This is in Washington State. So for both of us the annual premium would be about half the 12k.

Ok. Well I don’t have a problem with his speaking and always considered him polished in that regard. Not as good as bill clinton but much better than obama or bush. Speaking is the least of his problems IMO. He must persuade and not sure he has enough passion to get that done.

So at $50K with just one income and a nice house on a golf course, half paid for, I am lower class?

I couldn’t get by on $50K. Of course, I still have one kid in college. If you can, my hat is off to you.

I’ve always defined middle class as somebody who had to earn an income in order to make ends meet. If you do not need to earn an income to make ends meet, you are either upper class, or lower class (welfare + food stamps).

That’s enlightening. They manage to twist every Republican’s quote into the worst interpretation possible.

But is there a single FReeper remaining who doesn’t know that the commie leftists continually lie about absolutely everything?
