Back in February, 2007, Ezra Klein created a private Google Group called JournOList (or J-List) for fellow leftwing journalists, in order that they may collude and create a united front, all on a similar message each day. This developed into a rather large scandal in March of 2009, when Politico (surprisingly, for it is decidedly left-of-center) revealed the group and its intent.
Once the group was identified, and several examples of collusion were noted, the group disbanded. However, who among us believes that the collusion stopped there?
Let us review a recent posting on WonkBlog, a division of the Washington Post and authored by the dubious Mr. Klein,
Here is just a sampling of the onslaught of reporting that followed:
Romney retools strategy, dismisses report of disarray
Romney tries to steady shakey campaign (This article looks like it has been overwritten with a new hit piece by AP)
Amid rumors of discord, Romney seeks to shift strategy
NBC's Guthrie Hypes 'Squabbling' in Romney Campaign: Is it an 'Ominous Sign'?

Romney Campaign in Disarray, Says Romney Campaign
Romney camp in disarray - report

Romney hits reset on campaign as he trails Obama
Is this necessarily an organized effort led by mysterious Sith Lords of the Press, manufacturing a systematic and unified message? Maybe, maybe not. One thing is certain, though: The press serves as its own echo chamber. One report from Politico served as fodder for more reporting on the report. That is not journalism, that is echoing a message that most of the writers surely and dearly hoped was true.
There is likely complicit collusion among the members of the press. We have no smoking gun, at this time, other than the 2009 revelations of the JournOList. But maybe there doesn't even need to be an organized group. The press is so solidly and cohesively united for Obama's re-election, that all it seems to take is an article, a wink, and a nod.
And the American Pravda falls neatly into line.
1. Sith Lord An Evil Bitch who entices you into giving up your very soul to join her on the Dark Side. Then after she's done with you she will take a shit inside of your still beating heart without even removing it from your chest. The Sith Lord is a heartless, soulless, empty, selfish, beast that feels NO pain. Use Caution.
(Maybe I'm the only un-hip Freeper here but.......oh well.)
Thank you for noticing the reference. :)
Thank you for your kind words. Most of the time was spent finding links, it’s not my best writing....
Nice. Flak chuckers. I’d probably have substituted another ‘f’ in there somewhere.... :)
Amazing quote. Pulitzer saw the future.
Yes, I did forget that. Thanks for the reminder....
Megadittos!
EXCELLENT REFERENCE. Wish I had thought of it for this piece.
I found it amusing that FoxNews called this Romney nonstory their leading story. While the middle east burns and America slides down the drain, Romney calling a spade a spade is the lead story. Unbelievable!
Fox News has quite nearly been co-opted by the Dark Side.
It ain't easy being Lazzy.
BTTT
I did a google search for it and found a couple of times that it was on a couple of United Kingdom sites but I am not sure of the context.
When Obama opponents need to be smeared how much flak can flak chuckers chuck . . . .
Seems to me that there were posts, on FR, right after JournOlist disbanded that named their new, smaller, group but I can’t remember the name of it. Nor the FReeper that posted it.
The Fourth Estate is the Fifth Column.
JournOList?
More like...WhornOList.
Well, the good news is that newspapers are dying. We had little or no input in them. At least online we can stay on top of the news, search multiple sources quickly...and maybe even cause a few brush fires.
Please add me to your ping list. Thanks.
