(Rasmussen) Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: (Obama 47, Romney 45, 3% other, 4% undecided)
Rasmussen ^ | 20 Sep 12 | Rasmussen

Posted on 09/20/2012 8:41:28 AM PDT by xzins

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 45% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. See daily tracking history.

When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 50% and Romney 47%. Leaners are those who are initially uncommitted to the two leading candidates but lean towards one of them when asked a follow-up question.

Nine percent (9%) of voters now consider national security issues most important in this election. That’s up from five percent (5%) a week ago. Almost all of the increase has come from Republicans. While the economy is the number one issue for all parties, national security now replaces fiscal policy issues as the number two concern for GOP voters. Fiscal policy concerns remain the lowest priority among five issues for Democrats, while it’s second for voters not affiliated with either party.

No doubt, but I still don’t feel any poll is capturing what’s going on on the ground including Rasmussen.

Yes, and the meme that we can predict the election results by looking at a poll in mid-Septmber is pure crapola. See tagline.

Our side, especially the politicians and the media on our side, never complete an argument, and it’s jeopardizing the future of our country. WHY do we continue to refer to “8 percent” unemployment, when that number has gone down only because 9 million people have given up looking for work with Obama as president, and thus they are no longer considered “unemployed” and no longer included in the “unemployment” number. Why can’t we add 20 words or so — it would take just a few seconds — and say that “unemployment stands at 8.1 percent, but that number has dropped only because when people give up looking for a job — as 9 million have with Obama as president — they are no longer counted as unemployed.” PLEASE respond in discussions in some similar way and PLEASE encourage our politicians and our media friends to hammer on this fact. PLEASE. Unemployment counting the people who have given up is 11.4 percent. And that doesn’t count the people who work part-time but want to work full-time. PLEASE complete the argument. Numbers have a strong psychological impact.

There is a new pro-Romney Restore Our Future ad out just yesterday in Wisconsin and Michigan.

The name of the ad is “Disappearing” and you can look it up online.

It’s a good start.

The ad specifically addresses the fact that the real unemployment rate is nearly 19% and explains WHY.

Breaking news: among REGISTERED voters, Gallup tracking has Obama 47, Romney 47. Today.

Go pound sand CNN and entire MSM. Your hyperbolic, hysterical fit has resulted in zero for Zero.

Let us know if you think the new ad is a step in the right direction. I did. Because the low info, downscale voter needs education - the MSM would never explain these facts.

I just saw that freeper thread and commented here

It explains why Obama was attacking Gallup recently.

I have the day off an I am clicking between CNN an Fox. There are lots of Obama commercials running on CNN. Might be a reason why Mitt is lagging.

By the time the first debate concludes, the "47% video" is not going to hurt Romney and this video will have no significant effect on the election results. There are two main reasons why the video will not hurt Romney: 1) the vast majority of seniors who were going to support Romney or leaning towards Romney before this video are people who paid a lot of income taxes during their working lives and thus they will consider themselves in the group that pays federal income taxes and not in the group of Americans that doesn't pay income taxes. Even if they are not paying income taxes right now in retirement they are still going to think of themselves as part of the income taxpaying group. 2) Given that a big part of the 47% who pay no income taxes are middle class people, this video undermines Obama's claim that the middle class is being overtaxed to pay for "tax cuts for the rich". So in publicizing this sneaky video, Zero's campaign is taking a big risk of conflicting messaging that cancels out one of Obama's main campaign themes.

Romney needs to speak out and advertise and make clear that this was a video of a quick answer to a question at a fundraiser in which he did not want to bore his audience with a lot of numbers and statistics. These were also off-the-cuff statements that were not fully researched in advanced and thus were never intended to be shown on television. This video only ended up on TV because of Zero's sleazy dishonest campaign tactics. But now that Zero has put this subject on TV, Mitt Romney needs to respond with a complete and fully researched answer in which he says that the group of Americans that have fallen into dependency on government does not include seniors, students, or disabled people. He needs to state that very specifically and clearly and get that message out to the American people through PAC advertising and campaign advertising. He should also say in general terms what his plans are to help move people out of government dependency into permanent jobs and self-reliance.

Yet on the same site, there is a poll that states that 64 percent of adults think that there are too many Americans dependent on Government for financial aid. Huge disconnect.

Not only that, but the Gallup is RV, not LV, and it is in fact tied today.

No, those of us who actually understand polling said no such thing about McCain.

In 2008 the assumption around here were based on something called the “Bradly effect”. It assumed white voters were afraid to say they were against Obama because of racial politics.

This year the analysis is based on a hard crunching of the data. All the polling showing Obama way ahead is assuming that Obama will turn out more voters in 2012 then he did in 2008. That assumption is running contrary to current voter registration data.

Odd Gallup today has Romney moving up into a tie with O today. So how is that possible when the Junk Media polling is all claiming that O is running away with it?

Anyone really think Obama is going to do better with the voters in 2012 then he did in 2008?

Appears as if the “47%” flap has made it’s way into the results for the Tuesday and Wednesday sample. That being the case I would expect Gallup to begin to turn back toward Obama on Sat/Sun numbers. The question is does it die down and return to trend with it being effectively a 47/47 tie...

One more sub-group for Romney to add into the group that has not fallen into government dependency is people who are unemployed since 2009 because of the Great Recession. The group that Romney says have fallen into government dependency should only include the long-term unemployed and underemployed people, who need to get to work on training and educating themselves to do jobs that pay enough to support a solid middle-class lifestyle.

The main cause of poverty is lack of valuable job skills, knowledge, and education. Here in 2012, the main cause of poverty is not racial discrimination. Loss of manufacturing jobs to automation everywhere throughout the world is a minor cause of poverty, but the primary cause is lack of job training, an underdeveloped knowledge base, and lack of education (especially technical education). The long-term unemployed people need to get to work, start reading books and technical manuals, go to night school, get out there and get job training and education, take advantage of government-funded job training programs, and stop sitting around watching stupid television shows for 5 hours every day. (I heard recently that the average American watches TV for five hours per day; that's just incredible to me because most TV shows are so dumb. I only watch sports and a few outstanding shows and average about 8 hours of TV per week.) It's a lot of work being a student and educating yourself. I know because I've been there. I went to college for six years and earned two degrees. Since college I've retrained myself twice and spent a lot of time reading books, learning how to write computer software, and upgrading my knowledge base. It was tiring at times, but it has paid off very well and unemployed people can do the same thing if they have the drive and ambition.

“The ONLY way he can get his message out is through (negative) ads.”

Great idea but the problem is that Romney won’t do it. Reports are that his team wants negative ads too, but Romney & top advisor think the election will come down to the undecideds, and attack ads on Obama will drive them away!

Typical GOP Establishment thing, an excuse to act like Democrats.
