The presidents resistance to drawing a red line on Iran and his attacks on Romney for being cavalier about military action are fueled by the GOP nominees foreign policy blundersand the knowledge that most Americans oppose a war with Tehran.
In the past 10 days, something remarkable has happened: President Obama has gone on the political offensive on Iran. It started just over a week ago when Benjamin Netanyahu took a swipe at Hillary Clinton and tried to pressure Obama into setting a deadline for military action.

Name the last war that was won by airpower alone.
I’ll put you down as “yes”
Are you a "no"? Why?
Exactly. Since Romney is not president he can't commit a foreign policy blunder. This is a red herring to distract from Libya and Obama’s utter failure as a leader.
Serbia was defeated by just an air war. According to John Keegan the capitulation of Serbia in the Kosovo War marked a real turning point in the history of warfare. It “proved that a war can be won by air power alone.

“Im afraid that every time a freeper says lets bomb Iran, Obama gets another vote.”
Not true. What the American people don’t want is a land war and the occupation that follows, if for no other reason than our experiences in Vietnam, Iraq, and the present situation in Afghanistan.
Our people were thrilled with the small scale special forces operations in Afghanistan 10 years ago where we enabled the Uzbeks to run off the Taliban. What is driving us nuts lately is having our guys our hanging around in Kabul, with no intention of accomplishing anything except getting shot, when we have already announced a withdrawal.
Our people have been watching the the same pattern is repeating itself time after time. In the 1970’s a Democrat controlled Congress defunded the War in Vietnam because they wanted that taxpayer money for social spending. Our South Vietnamese allies, who were at the time in control of every province in South Vietnam, had to withdraw into enclaves around cities. With the communists surrounding our allies from all sides, they lost heart and gave up. North Vietnamese General Giap admitted in later years that the North had been beaten, and they just couldn’t believe it when the South suddenly gave up.
Cut to Iraq six years ago when Gen Patraeus organized his “surge”. The Democrats reacted with their own counter-surge, stirred by Harry Reid’s announcement that “The War is lost”. Again, the left was drooling over all that money being thrown at the Dept of defense. But this time we were lucky, and the surge succeeded quickly in spite this repeat of the treachery of Democrat politicians.
Our problem now is that Iran has a much bigger population than Iraq, and has two or three times the land area. Obama has already defunded our Army in order to buy votes with free cell phones and permanent vacations for the freeloader class . The American people are tired, and will no longer support a land war in any case.
So, our best bet would be for our Navy in the Gulf to take a hint from Obama’s prodigious imagination and soften up the Iranian populace by jamming the internet and the airwaves with offensive video clips. Saudi Arabia is next on the Muslim Brotherhood’s hit list and probably wouldn’t mind Israeli airplanes overflying Saudi airspace on their way to Iran’s nuclear facilities, where they can finish the job from 10,000 feet.

If Peter Bienhart had a brain he could audition for the part of the scarecrow.
This may be correct. For years, I have been screaming that the pro-Israel groups have become the useful idiots of Iran by pressing Israel’s security concerns vis-a-vis its nuclear program. The American people will not go to war for Israel.
Iran is a threat to America and that is why we should pre-empt their nuclear program. All other language is distracting and helps the isolationists and shills for Iran.
BTW, we can even invade without occupying. There is no need to stay.
Agitprop alert. Poll results are worthless. What were the questions and how were they worded?
Yeah, which is why there were NATO troops in Kosovo for years afterwards.
BTW, we can even invade without occupying. There is no need to stay.
That's what they said about Iraq. Quick invasion, a couple of months basking in the glow of a grateful populace, and then home again after leaving everything in the hands of the newly-formed democratic government, who would also flood us with oil out of appreciation. Didn't quite work out that way.
We invaded Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hissein. A limited strik to take out Iran's nuclear program, ICBM facilities, naval missiles, and the Revolutionary guard is entirely different.
