Poll: Jewish Democrats Abandoning Obama for Romney, Economy, Israel
By Karen Levy
Israel News Agency
New York, New York --- October 4, 2012 ... Jewish Democrats who have voted for Democratic Presidents in the past four Presidential elections are now jumping ship and plan on voting for the economic and foreign policies advocated by US Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
The INA poll, which was released after the first Presidential debate last night where Mitt Romney clearly buried a depressed and nervous Barack Obama, illustrates that over fifty percent of all democratic voters are now either unsure or committed to voting for the Romney team.
Another poll released last month confirms predictions that Obama was losing up to a quarter of the Jewish votes he got in 2008. The Investors Business Daily/Christian Science Monitor/TIPP Poll gives a breakdown of religion along with other demographic groups.
"American Jews have always picked the liberal side due to their own history of suffering," said Joel Leyden, Director of Jews4MittRomney.com. "American Jews have always perceived the Democratic Party as being more sensitive and understanding to human issues. But after four years of no hope and no change, of unemployment at its worst rate in over 30 years, and with Israel being threatened with nuclear weapons by Iran, the Jewish vote is now going through an historic transition."
President Barack Obama was badly defeated in his first televised Presidential debate last night. Obama faced a confident, knowledgeable and aggressive Mitt Romney who was not intimated by the President's arrogance.
Mitt Romney took control of the first debate and won it handily on both substance and style," said Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Executive Director Matt Brooks.
Last night Americans saw the real Mitt Romney, not the caricature of the negative attack ads and biased media reports. They saw Romney in command of the facts, secure in his principles and demonstrating the leadership and competence that has been missing in the White House for nearly four years."
Brooks added: Romney made his case effectively on taxes, jobs, protecting the middle class, and health care. But he also gave voice to the enduring values of America, showed how far we have strayed from them under the Obama administration, and pledged to turn America back onto the path of economic growth and opportunity for all.
All of US major media from CNN, FOX and the New York Times to AP, USAToday and the LA Times agreed that Obama was "rusty", "depressed" "not familiar with the issues" and "passive" when confronted by an articulate Romney.
"Obama is not used to being challenged in public," said Leyden. "He used master sales skills and was the right person at the right place using the right race card when running for his first term. American Jews as all Americans are now suffering. The lack of employment, homes being auctioned by banks, members of the US military not being allowed to vote and recent college graduates joining the unemployment lines have made everyone nervous. When one looks outside the US they see the Middle East in turmoil and America's most loyal ally - Israel - being ignored by the White House."
A Facebook group Jews for Mitt Romney has opened on the Internet and promises to answer many questions that Jewish democrats may have about Mitt Romney. As the Facebook groups states: "Republicans also have a heart. A very large and caring heart for Americans. We believe in enabling people, not making them dependent on government services. But if they need government services - they will be there."
"Barack Obama can ignore Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jewish children carrying gas masks in Israel but he can't ignore the US public," said Leyden.
"On February 1, 2009, Obama said that his presidency would be a one-term proposition if the economy did not recover in three years. As Romney, a documented success in making Massachusetts thrive as governor and US businesses prosper and grow as one of America's most respected business leaders, said last night - the President may own his own airplane and house, but he does not own the facts. The facts illustrate a failed President who has made many promises and has kept none."
Checkbook issues eventually come to the forefront. Not that many parents are willing to tolerate seeing their children unemployed and seeing a bleak financial future, for the sake of ideology. It's fine to talk about "caring" and "redistribution of wealth", right up to the point where it's THEIR wealth being redistributed.

The more accurate word here is MISPERCEIVED, because the perception of the 'Rat party "as being more sensitive and understanding to human issues" is clearly historical revisionism. Taking private funds away coercively from the citizens and using it to redistribute wealth accordance to the fancies of government bureaucrats doesn't necessarily correlate with "being more sensitive and understanding to human issues." (Private American Jews themselves did much laudable work in this area long before government became dominant.) Neither is support for affirmative action and quotas. And what about the Democratic Party's connection to slavery, the KKK, and Jim Crow?
No, the Jewish Left's embrace of the Democratic Party is more a matter of irrational behavior and historical mythology rather than what really happened in the United States.
Hopefully, the author of this story is at least partially correct, and many Jewish voters will break their nasty addiction to the Democrats and will switch over to Mitt Romney, the only one of the two major candidates in this race who is pro-Israel and philo-Semitic.
Firstly, Lindbergh was not an American political figure as such, and never held elective office or politically-appointed office outside the military. He was probably a Republican, since his father was once a GOP Congressman and he married into the family of an ambassador appointed by a GOP president, but aside from a strange feud or two with Franklin D. Roosevelt, he was not a political character.
There is no historical evidence of Charles A. Lindbergh being a Nazi or a Nazi collaborator. Lindbergh did visit Nazi Germany before the onset of WWII and was allowed to visit some of its military aircraft facilities through "friendships" with Nazi military personnel. But he reported back his findings to the US government, and so his mission to Germany was actually as an American spy. Since Germany was ahead of the US in military aircraft technology at that point, Lindbergh could have provided very useful information.
I strongly doubt the authenticity of the photo you posted with a swastika purportedly painted on "The Spirit of St. Louis." "The Spirit of St. Louis" made its famous trans-Atlantic flight to Paris with Lindbergh piloting solo in 1927. I'd be sure it was retired in the United States before the Nazis came to power in Germany in 1933. It would never have been on German soil, certainly not during the Nazi era. So I can't see how, when, or where some Nazi(s) might have painted a swastika on it with Lindbergh's permission. To claim as you did that that is a true photo of the nose cone of "The Spirit of St. Louis" would require historical research to document the connections of those names on it to the history of the aircraft itself.
That's all pretty weak and old-news compared to the actions of the current moslem-in-chief and the historic RAT racism dating back to before the Civil War.
I didn't know about Lindburg, but I did know that the RAT-god Joe Kennedy was a Nazi sympathizer and Rockefeller, and Henry Ford, I believe.
Although some of this stuff is true, and self inflicted, most of the nazi slurs on Republicans has been the deliberate result of the RATagandists, who themselves are actually CPUSA "progressives".
Yes. The guess here is a 60-40 split.
But this considerable shift to the GOP, as compared to 2008, has to be keeping the Debbie Wasserman Schultzes of the world up at night fearing that it could perhaps be decisive for Romney in Florida, Ohio, or Nevada.
There are two types of Jews, the ones who care about Israel and the ones who don’t. Orthodox Jews vote Republican(If you’ve ever watched the Chabad telethon those are Orthodox Jews)..the Jews that have family in Israel or moved here from Israel(like my family did) also vote Republican. When my family came here in the late 60s they were automatically registered as Dems but my family overwhelmingly vote Republican(except a few of them but even they are seeing the light now). I recently saw a poll that shows that when it comes to Israel, its dead last as to what they care about(And these were the ones that voted Democrat)
Only because the GOP is full of spineles, useless linguini who allow the Dems to define them.
The history of the Republican Party is one that is replete with far more real support for minorities versus the lip service paid by the Dems to minorities.
As I stated before, I will NEVER understand how American Jews support the aims and goals of the Dem Party who hold Israel in contempt. I don't get it and I hope I never will.
With respect to your service in the IDF, I applaud and honor your service. It's a funny thing how war tends ro change your perspectives about life, isn't it?
Thanks justiceseeker93.
By Election Day it may be 50/50.
Only if you think so. Pray for them, love them and try to have faith. God is amazing, and does things to change people's hearts.
Florida is my big hope. It’s famously swingy, heavily Jewish in the South, and there’s also such x-factors as the PO’d Cubans who just managed to tip the scales for W in 2000, and the panhandle in a different time zone, and central Florida. So PO’d Jews might just tip the scales this year, even if only more Jews than usual vote GOP/less than usual vote DOP (low turnout). If my mother-in-law is any indication, the older they are, the harder it is for them to vote GOP, so low turnout of the disenchanted elders might do it, even if they can’t bring themselves to vote for Romney.
“Romney being a religious oddball (Mormon) may actually help with this wannabe broad minded group.”
You have given voice to something I have thought for quite a while now. By Romney himself being a religious minority, this would give Jews a more comfortable candidate to back, knowing Mitt has dealt with the same kind of problems that being a religious minority brings. Hope what we think is true.
Speaking from a Jewish perspective, I would have to say that the large majority of Jewish voters have - unfortunately - little or no knowledge of the sordid history of the religious persecution of Mormons in the United States. That's not because of bigotry on the part of the Jews, but it's largely the result of the geographic distribution of the two groups in the country, so that it's fairly uncommon for Jews to have had experiences with Mormon friends or neighbors.
That having been said, I can relate that Mitt's father, George Romney, was well liked and respected by the Jewish community in Michigan during his long tenure as governor there, especially for a Republican, and his Mormonism was never a factor in that relationship.
“That’s all pretty weak and old-news compared to the actions of the current moslem-in-chief and the historic RAT racism dating back to before the Civil War. “
I don’t disagree with you. I am recounting the arguments I hear.
The worst are people on our side who defend the Nazi sympathizers in (or who were in) our midst.
“To claim as you did that that is a true photo of the nose cone of “The Spirit of St. Louis” would require historical research to document the connections of those names on it to the history of the aircraft itself.”
You are normally a very smart poster. Seriously, all you have to do is google this and you can get the link to the Smithsonian Air & Space showing the Swastika in the nose cone.
Here:

Or you can go to the Barron Hilton wing and go see the nose cone yourself like I did.
Seriously, if you are going to defend Lindburg on this point, you’d have to argue it was a “good luck” symbol and had no connection with the Nazis behind the curtain (or Lindburg’s other anti-semitic activities), which is the ususual argument.
I'd like to personally take a trip to the Smithsonian to view the aircraft and see if it is true. If so, I think that enough political pressure can be generated to force the Smithsonian to get rid of the swastika graffiti. And I think it would make a major news story, even in today's often perverse mainstream media environment.
Yes, I knew that Lindbergh spent some months in Nazi Germany and gained enough confidence of high Nazi officials to get tours of Nazi military aircraft facilities. And I knew that he received a medal of honor from the Nazis. But could that have been all done as parts of an espionage mission for the United States? After all, cultivating friendships with Nazis could have been essential to this cause. I base this theory on a fascinating book I read titled "Lindbergh and Roosevelt" by James P. Duffy, published by Regnery in 2010.
It should also be noted that after Pearl Harbor, Lindbergh tried to re-enlist in the American military as an officer but was denied a commission by the personal intervention of Roosevelt. (The two had had squabbles before.) Eventually, Lindbergh contributed to the American war effort in a civilian aviation capacity, having input into the design and manufacture of American military aircraft.
“If your posted photo is accurate, and there is indeed a swastika painted on “the Spirit of St. Louis”
Did you not track back the link on the picture to the Smithsonian Air & Space display? Or look in the background of the first link and see the rest of the display?
“But could that have been all done as parts of an espionage mission for the United States?”
No. Look a the basic facts: Lindburg:
(1) repeatedly wrote articles and made speechesfor years addressing eugenics, the superiority of the “Nordic Race” and the evil influence of Joooos;
(2) wrote in his DIARY about evil Jewish inflence;
(3) has FBI interviews about how he hated Jews and liked Nazis (go to thesmokinggun.com) and was considered a Nazi-sympathyzer by the FBI;
(4) publically attacked the “Jewish movie” people for attempting to stir-up hatred against the Nazis
(5) had Nazi friends
(6) attempted to influence US policy to help Nazis
Pretending he’s a super-spy for the moment, he wouldn’t have written in his DIARY that no-one read that he hated Jews, unless he’s in such deep cover he was hiding from himself.
I mean, the man wrote for the “Dearborn Independent” -— Henry Ford’s Anti-semitic newspaper that printed the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, he’s a duck.
“It should also be noted that after Pearl Harbor, Lindbergh tried to re-enlist in the American military as an officer but was denied a commission by the personal intervention of Roosevelt.”
Regarding WWII, Lindburg served in combat with US Air Corp — fighting the Japanese.
