Old Interview Sheds New Light on Obama's Debate Flop
American Thinker ^ | October 9, 2012 | Jack Cashill

In February 2001, Julieanna Richardson, as part of an oral history on black Americans called "History Makers," interviewed Barack Obama at length.

Although the 10,000-plus-word interview offers no Eureka moments, it does help demystify Obama's debate failure and deepens the doubt that he uniquely authored his own memoir, Dreams from My Father. Kudos to attorney Barron Sawyer for bringing this interview to light.

Richardson seems to capture the 39-year-old state senator as he was -- cautious, ambitious, and more than a little vain. Given his ambitions, Obama confined his discussion to topics that would not derail his political career. When asked about his influences, for instance, he did not mention Frank Marshall Davis, his communist mentor from Hawaii, or any of the other communists and fellow travelers he cited in Dreams, like Langston Hughes, Richard Wright, W.E.B. DuBois, and Frantz Fanon.

Off the cuff, here as always, Obama did not...

--snip--

Complicating Obama's debating posture was his inability to express his truest sentiments. As he told Richardson, he had long been asking himself, "... how do we bring about more just society? You know, what are the institutional arrangements that would give people opportunity?" He had learned as a boy in Indonesia that the wealthy were not "smarter or more able" than the poor, but rather "craftier, stronger or luckier, or more ruthless."

As Obama matured, he projected what he saw in Indonesia to America and came to see that the "racism in the United States is just one expression of sort of a broader set of injustices that you see around the world." Unable to voice his core beliefs in the debate, Obama lacked a true organizing principle around which to order his thoughts. This problem will plague him in the foreign policy debate as well, perhaps even more...

Huh?

LOL

Of course we are buds. I didn’t see you on tbe thread, irregardless, my comment wasn’t directed at anyone here and certainly not you.

It was an outburst of frustration that no one in enemedia cared.to give this Tard at least a once over. Likely because they are sympatico with their Marxist/Socialist brother.

If I offended the fault is mine but, I was speaking to the article and playing bass in the choir.

Hope you had a good time TX with HG.

You didn’t offend! I was just making sure I didn’t! I understand your meaning now.

The time in Texas was such that I will be making the June (planned) shoot. Texas is too close to miss this.

That can be extrapolated into leftism/liberalism in general.

They can’t tell people what they intend to do, or else they’d never get the power to do so.

This is basically the same thing that I have been saying, Obama’s domestic policy is the same as his foreign policy, Obama is a post modernist progressive. He believes that the Western White, male, capitalists, have oppressed and exploited the Brown populations of the world throughout history. Speaking of history, Obama also believes that history is nothing but a meta-narrative that designed by those same Western White Capitalist oppressors to secure their own power. Obama ties all these theories together with a big yellow ribbon of relativity. To Obama and his fellow travelers, everything is relative, from history, to culture to even words. Obama believes that there is no one truth, one superior culture, one superior form of government, or one interpretation of the law. Obama believes that everything is relative and that WE, the US have been using the wrong interpretation to benefit ourselves.

If Obama openly said what he actually thinks he would still be a community organizer in Chicago, not the president.

The USA gives EVERY person a FREE education K-12. FREE. FREEEEEE.

There is almost no other country in the world- with the possible exception of Canada- that does such.

Refusal by the parents to prepare their kids for school in the first place.

Refusal to attend a school consistently, without abscenses....

Refusal to behave properly in class & in recess.....

Refusal to do homework....

Refusal to show up for tests.....

Hell- Head Start is mostly a free babysitting service!!!

I will bet anyone a prime rib dinner of their choice that Blacks are the poorest performers in all of the above...

They buy into all kinds of theories about how the ‘white man’ keeps them down’, which is absolute bunk.

I pay my taxes, of which about 60% currently go to the schools. I have done so since 1966 when I bought my frist house in So. Calif. I have NO kids!!! 46 years of paying taxes for kids I didn’t produce!!

I never once said a word to the school board that they should overspend my taxes on the whites & leave the blacks in the dust.

I never once voted for anything that would harm a black kid in school.

This country offers EQUAL OPPORTUNITY——it does not guarantee EQUAL RESULTS!!!!!!!!

It’s about time that one of these PACS told the truth about this.

IF you refuse to participate in K, then all thru elementary school, middle school, and high school...then you will be a FAILURE!!!

I won’t hire you. My neighbor won’t hire you. You will be unemployable & a chronic problem for the rest of your years.

YOU created that problem-—not ME!!!

YOU made those choices-—not ME!!!

I am tired to the core of being blamed for YOUR failures....

I have enough of my own!

Yeah, sorry for the confusion. I was speaking to the article not really the author and certainly not the OP.

Remind me about the June shoot. I’d love to bring a few of my girlfriends and run some rounds through them.

I can make the trek and meet you guys then head on over to Tulsa and see my Mom.

Glad you guys had a great time.

Going back to sleep. My shoulder is killing me.

BTW, ping me on Freepmail. I’m curious as to what you do for a living and would love to meet you and a few other Freepers.

You’re in Atlanta?

“Barack Obama’s primary and core belief is that Barack Obama is really amazing. A close corollary is that Barack Obama believes Barack Obama is entitled to a lot of wonderful things.”

Post of the day.

.
No, not an education, an INDOCTRINATION!

A free prefrontal lobotomy.

It’s not just free, it’s mandatory.

If everything is relative, how dare anybody say OUR interpretation is "wrong"?
