Sen Graham, Ayotte and McCain release statement regarding Sec Clinton's statement
Facebook ^

Posted on 10/15/2012 7:33:27 PM PDT by Perdogg

just sent out this statement with Senator Kelly Ayotte and John McCain about the attack on our Consulate in Benghazi.

"We have just learned that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has claimed full responsibility for any failure to secure our people and our Consulate in Benghazi prior to the attack of September 11, 2012. This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever.

"However, we must remember that the events of September 11 were preceded by an escalating pattern of attacks this year in Benghazi, including a bomb that was thrown into our Consulate in April, another explosive device that was detonated outside of our Consulate in June, and an assassination attempt on the British Ambassador. If the President was truly not aware of this rising threat level in Benghazi, then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed. But if the President was aware of these earlier attacks in Benghazi prior to the events of September 11, 2012, then he bears full responsibility for any security failures that occurred. The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief. The buck stops there.

"Furthermore, there is the separate issue of the insistence by members of the Administration, including the President himself, that the attack in Benghazi was the result of a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a hateful video, long after it had become clear that the real cause was a terrorist attack. The President also bears responsibility for this portrayal of the attack, and we continue to believe that the American people deserve to know why the Administration acted as it did."

Weak statement.

For starters, they should have declared Hillary Clintons claim not credible, that is not how reporting protocal works.

Next, they should call for her to imediatley resign. What is the value of falling on a sword if the dutiful soldier does not actually do it. If she feels she is really responsible, then she should resign at once and if she won’t, the president should call for her resignation immediately.

That will keep the issue in the news cycle at the same time it confronts the absurdity of Hillarys claim.

There is also issue the issue of why nothing was done at all during and after the attack.

Live coverage and nothing was done. Why?

If there were an honest screw-up (yeah right) why not ACT?

Where were Obama and Clinton? Why did Obama go to sleep and Las Vegas fundraisers. Of course they were informed. Why did they do nothing?

McMee and Graham?

I suspect coordination with Romney probably for
Open border legislation later. Sorry all but I don’t
Trust those two to do the right thing unless it serves
Them politically.

All Hitlary said was she is the Secretary of State and she will find out who screwed up and made her look bad. The Hildabeast has not fallen on a sword nor been thrown under the bus. She simply gave the Ministry of Propaganda a nudge. Now they can move-on dot org that they are.

At DU they’re crying tears of adoration over this story. The recurring theme - “What a class act Hillary is!” One says, “Truth first, ambition later.” Truly a different universe.

We WANT Hillary to look good, not Obama.

This is exactly as we predicted: modified limited Clintonian hang-out on the security; and retaliation from Clinton on the cover-up.

Set up well for Mitt tomorrow night.

Must remember: appearances notwithstanding, the Clintons want Obama defeated.

And while we reluctantly accept Sec Clinton’s resignation we are still waiting for answers to why the President failed to protect American territory and citizens abroad.

Obama is in a damned if you do - damned if you don’t situation ...

There will [or should] be calls for him to fire or demand Hilary’s resignation. If he does, the Left will never forgive him - and it’ll cost him votes ...

If he doesn’t, he looks like he is hiding behind Hilary’s skirts, but refuses to fire the person responsible for the death of the Ambassador - it’ll cost him votes ...

Hard to know what evil machinations have been going on with Bubba. Perhaps this was the best way out. Maybe Dick Morris has not been told his talking point yet or he has been told to stay silent.

Restores my faith in Hillary. I think she is getting the reaction she was hoping for. LOL

I think Obama should have been watching his back a little better.

It's a nice turn of the knife by the Clintons, isn't it? They get credibility with the Party that dumped them for the Golden Boy in 2008, but unlike the morons in their Party and the collaborationist press, they know full well (because they ran the Executiuve Department) that the State Department isn't firewalled from the rest of the National Security apparatus. The request for security, the denial, and the deteriorating situation in Libya (as well as clandestine operations in which the Ambassador might well have been involved) would have come to the attention of the National Security Council. At which point the President would have known. Even if he didn't attend the briefing, he should have seen a brief, in all likelihood several.

It's a brilliant move. HRC makes a statement and stays out of the country. She won't be available for follow-ups until after the 2nd debate damage is done, maybe even the 3rd. Meanwhile, the latest spaghetti noodle of damage control flops harmlessly from the wall, leaving Zero to twist slowly in the wind.

The libs keep saying that there’s nothing that could have been done, that they had no way way of knowing that an attack was coming.

But the facts are clear- there were two previous attacks on the Benghazi site. There were requests for more security. We were involved in trying to remove weapons from the bad guys there, and they were highly motivated to stop it.

It’s possible that the primary target of the attack wasn’t even the ambassador, but the weapons and intelligence specialists, and the classified information that was in the building- that the US didn’t even try to get. CNN was in the building before we were!

It’s one thing to say you’re taking responsibility, but until those words are backed up with action, the words are hollow. Clinton needs to resign now.

“we continue to believe that the American people deserve to know why the Administration acted as it did”

The democrat chair during an interview on Fox News scoffed and said “the American People don’t want an answer.”

This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever.

What BS. Over a month after the attack, Clinton now claims responsibility. Why didn't she attend the Congressional hearings? Why did she cite the video at Andrews AFB?

This crapola has to do with the fact that Obama debates Romney tomorrow night. And if claiming responsibility is so laudable, why hasn't she submitted her resignation?
