Inhofe: EPA 'punting' regs until after election that 'spell doom' for jobs, economy
Fox News ^ | October 21, 2012

Republican Sen. James Inhofe says the Environmental Protection Agency has delayed action or “punted” on numerous regulations while President Obama tries to “earns votes” for a second term.

The Oklahoma senator and ranking Republican on the chamber’s Committee on Environment and Public Works has released a report stating that when the agency approves the roughly one dozen regulations next year in 2013, they will “spell doom” for jobs and economic growth.

“The Obama-EPA plans to move full speed ahead to implement this agenda if President Obama wins a second term,” Inhofe writes. “These rules taken together will inevitably result in the elimination of millions of American jobs, drive up the price of gas at the pump even more, impose construction bans on local communities and essentially shut down American oil, natural gas and coal production.”

The 14-page report cites pending regulations on a wide range of environmental-economic issues including those on power plant emissions and hydraulic fracturing.

The report concluded that pending overall regulations on greenhouse gases if enacted would cost $300 billion to $400 billion annual and significantly increase the price of gasoline and home heating.

“The requirements are so strict they virtually eliminate coal as a fuel option for future electric power generation,” the report states. “In a thinly veiled political move, the agency has put off finalizing the proposal until after the election.”

Inhofe: EPA 'punting' regs until after election that 'spell doom' for jobs, economy

Sounds like a good political ad for traditional energy producing states. Unfortunately, Romney has a record of making statements agreeing with some of the EPA's harmful positions.

Romney's current position seems to be an improvement. "Part one of Mitt’s plan is to achieve energy independence on this continent by 2020. America is blessed with extraordinary natural resources, and developing them will create millions of good jobs – not only in the energy industry, but also in industries like manufacturing that will benefit from more energy at lower prices. America’s economy will boom when the billions of dollars we send overseas for our oil are kept here at home instead."

But I still wonder if he will follow through if elected. Am I being too negative?

Our forefathers put up with less tyranny than Obama is piling on us . Our forefathers went to war , walking miles in bare bloody feet on frozen ground, to risk death for freedom. We could make a few calls now?Go to Romney’s site and volunteer to call people in Ohio and other swing states. Doesn’t cost us anything to save America, freedom , and our way of life. The time is now.

Obama is killing coal , oil, etc. and private companies. Just if we allowed the private sector to develop the U.S.’s unlimited coal, oil, natural gas, oil shale etc. just if the government and EPA got out of the way , energy would be the cheapest in the world for U.S. companies who could then outcompete China and other countries.

This POS Obama has closed 204 coal plants,
and done millions of other crimes,
piled on 11,000 new pages of federal regulations on business, and 13,000 pages more government regulations from obamacare coming,
did many unlawful executive orders,
6 trillion in new Obama federal debt etc.

you Obama get out of the United States you criminal, marxist, muslim socialist Obama.

I don’t think you are. I am going to view everything he does with a biased eye, I can tell you right now.

Look, I want to be proven wrong here over and over again.

I’m not going to be, but it sure would be great.

Are you being too negative? No, I don't believe you are. None of us know for sure just what Romney will do when elected and I pray he will be.

I think he will do what's right for the people of our country and the country but there's no guarantees.

Of course we are pretty certain what Obama will do if reelected and for me that's not an option.

Think about this. Obama gets beat.

Romney has Lisa Jackson head of the EPA resign.

Old Lisa there will get a sweet job as being a lobbiest for twice the money as now.

Our current system is you can be asked to go to a party and leave a turd in the punch bowel and someone will hire your.

Yep, little doubt that you're right.

I'm sure the enviro-nazi groups will be after Jackson like flies on you know what and pay her big bucks to lobby for them.

The encouraging thing is she probably hasn't the brains to warrant those bucks and those enviro-nazis hopefully will catch on.

The way I see it, it would be a challenge for Romney to totally cleanse himself of his past liberal accomplices. Not impossible, for me it's a worry.

LINK: On Jan. 1, 2006, Massachusetts became the first state to regulate CO2 emissions from power plants, something the Obama administration is trying to do to all states through the Environmental Protection Agency’s draconian job-killing regulations and mandates. A Dec. 7, 2005 memo from the governor’s office announcing the new policy listed among the “environmental and policy experts” providing input to the policy one “John Holdren, professor of environmental policy at Harvard University.” This is the same person who wrote that a “massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States.

Not all are accountable to the people and nulify the concept of a Representative Republic.

-with some inspiration from Hayek:

Delegation as such need not be a danger to freedom.

The interesting point is why delegation has become necessary on such a scale. First place among the causes enumerated is given to the fact that "Congress nowadays passes so many laws every year" and that "much of the detail is so technical as to be unsuitable for Congressional discussion".

But if this were all there would be no reason why the detail should not be worked out before rather than after Congress passes a law. What is probably in many cases a much more important reason why, "if Congress were not willing to delegate law-making power, Congress would be unable to pass the kind and quantity of legislation which public opinion requires" is innocently revealed in the little sentence that "many of the laws affect people's lives so closely that elasticity is essential"!

What does this mean if not conferment of arbitrary power, power limited by no fixed principles and which in the opinion of Congress cannot be limited by definite and unambiguous rules?

You know, this guy is going to come back to haunt us. We both do. We tried earlier this year, but here we are.

With Schwarzenegger I hoped he would surprise me. He did. Not in a good way. I realized that would going to happen, it just hoped I was wrong. I wasn’t. The question is, do you back a guy who doesn’t get it, or do you back the Brown separatist? What a mess!

I’ve pretty much given up on folks who don’t get it. As a 65 year old man, Romney isn’t going to play the ‘educate me’ game. He thinks he’s got it figured out. Sadly, on too many subjects, he doesn’t.

It is not the enviro-nazis that I worry about.

It is the MSM who do not have a clue that will pick up any word stated by anyone who has a title.

MSM will follow devil right into hell if they can get a byline

All this outrage over the over reaching of the EPA is absolutely hilarious. This has been going on for years and there are plenty right here on FR that have been applauding it for years.

Just take a look at any of the “Nanny State” threads, especially those involving smoking - you’ll see how bad the EPA has always been — and how many “freepers” actually embrace the over reach.

I realize that's easier said than done but it would be a start.

The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.

I'm full of useless platitudes, but this one gets the point across rather nicely.

You know, this guy is going to come back to haunt us. We both do. We tried earlier this year, but here we are.

Maybe Romney didn't know that Holdren seems to think that this planet would be better off without people. Maybe he thought Holdren was just a very famous and respected Harvard professor. Or maybe I'm fooling myself.

Maybe Romney has good intentions. But as they say, "Who sups with the devil needs a long spoon."
