MSNBC Ridicules Romney for Collecting Food and Supplies for Sandy Victims

This one is really hard to believe, even for the most biased so-called "news network" in the nation.

MSNBC on Tuesday totally trashed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for collecting food and supplies at a storm rally event in Ohio to be sent to victims of Hurricane Sandy (video follows with transcript and commentary):

After introducing his Obama-supporting guests Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Lehigh professor James Peterson, host Martin Bashir played a clip of the President speaking at the Red Cross headquarters in Washington Tuesday.

When the clip concluded, Bashir said, “Mayor Reed, so the Red Cross knows what it’s doing. Did he, did you detect perhaps a subtle dig there on Mr. Romney who spent today going against the guidelines established by the Red Cross and holding a campaign rally in Ohio that was dressed up like a charity drive collecting food and other supplies when the Red Cross expressly asked people not to do that?”

Imagine that. A presidential candidate who gives millions of dollars a year to charity does a storm relief event in Ohio, and an MSNBC anchor is disgusted by it because the Red Cross would prefer people donating cash.

Yet according to the Washington Post:

The stop was billed as a “storm relief” event, and attendees were asked to bring non-perishable foods and other items for those affected by the storm. Long white tables to one side of the cavernous James S. Trent Arena were piled high with flashlights, batteries, diapers, toothbrushes, mini-deodorants, fleece blankets, cereal, toilet paper and canned goods.

Two large TV screens at the front of the venue bore the logo of the American Red Cross and the message: “Sandy: Support the Relief Effort.

Romney gave the liberal media a “how low can you go” test. And they did not disappoint.

This is disgraceful!;-)

Romney shouldn't allowed to participate in a relief effort. That's the president's yob.

What if Romney actually looked like a humanitarian...unacceptable!

He must dress like a vampire...it will soon be Halloween after all.

Communists and unions (redundant) don’t like private people helping each other. That’s the government’s job.

The Red Cross prefers cash; yeah, we’ve all seen how much cash actually gets to those in need and how excruciatingly slow it is in getting there as well as the bureaucracy involved.

MSNBC is just another propaganda arm for the National Socialist Democrat Party.

Yes, it always has been “crawl back into the gutters” for the DemoRATS. These people are just pure trash — and no need to point it out. They do that DAILY through their own acts and via the so-called media.

Romney for President. PLEASE!!!

What Romney might do is give Franklin Graham a call and get the Samaritan's Purse involved.

Together they could raise millions ASAP (and Romney wouldn't even claim credit).

Note: I have never cared for Romney...but I must admit, I now know that he has always gone above and beyond in his efforts to help others (and never bragged about it...or even let it be known).

By the way, during Romney’s remarks at the event, he explicitly asked that people also give to the Red Cross.

I said before, and I’ll repeat again.

Be prepared for the media HATE HATE HATE for the next few years, under president Romney.

Bush went out of his way to mollify Dems, did him absolutely no good.

Romney should be smarter than that. But I have my doubts....

The president can now take the high road while supportive media takes the low road and that leaves no road open for Mitt.

They're not letting a crisis go to waste.

You can’t please these people no matter what, so just do what you’re going to do and do the right thing.

Wasn’t it John Kerry who made the statement that Americans shouldn’t give to the Charity of THEIR choice - that they should, instead, have to give money to the government and let THEM choose the charity since THEY are so much better than we are at knowing where the money is needed most. Talk about aristocratic arrogance and a complete lack of respect for the intelligence of voters (not to mention the sheer audacity of thinking he has the right to put his hands in OUR wallets and take out the money WE worked for so he can pass it on to the charity of his choosing!) How have we ended up with such a government of entitlement attitude buffoons????

I would call Obamacytes maggots, but that's an insult to maggots.

Obama and his followers are lower than any life form.

You 100% nailed it. Though come on Mitt, was there ever really any doubt the MSM would sink that low?

Jesus Christ himself could come back to earth at a Romney campaign event, and if Mitt washed his feet and gave him his shoes... all the MSM would see is cruelty to animals 'cause Mitt gave him something made of leather. They'd be interviewing PETA, a shoemaker's union rep, and talking about how many shoes are now made in China (blaming Mitt).

...an MSNBC anchor is disgusted by it because the Red Cross would prefer people donating cash.

That's because people were disgusted with the Red Cross after 9/11 when they used the cash donations to upgrade their telephone systems, when people gave the money to help the families who were hurt by the attack.
