Another Republican lawmaker ditches Norquist tax pledge (Sen. Saxby Chambliss - Ga.)

Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss (Ga.) on Wednesday said that addressing the nation’s looming “fiscal cliff” took precedence over honoring the anti-tax pledge he signed for conservative activist Grover Norquist.

“I care more about my country than I do about a 20-year-old pledge,” said Chambliss to local Georgia television station 13WMAZ. “If we do it his way then we’ll continue in debt, and I just have a disagreement with him about that.”

Chambliss said he expected that Norquist and some conservatives might hold his decision against him when he is up for reelection in 2014, but said he was confident he had made the right choice.

It is going to tax cuts in spending and then a tax increase (in that order) to fix the problem. Interest payments on the national debt will one day exceed all government revenues. That is the cliff.

If there is a silver-lining to all this misery it is that we are finally seeing how phony many in the Republican party are. Remember when Rush Limbaugh recently said that the Republican party has no ideology? Chambliss is just the example du jour.

Listen to Mark Levin if you can. He has been exposing the perfidity of John Boehner who certainly appears to be a collaborator with the Democrats. Sometimes I wonder if the Democrats are fielding fake Republicans into Repulbican campaigns. Nothing would surprise me today, nothing!

“Conservative activist’? Grover Norquist: Married to a muslim. Founder of the islamic institute. Agenda setter, lobbyist, policy maker and overall heavy hitter for the muslim/islamic terrorist front group, C.A.I.R. Based right here in the good old USA, this 1930’s nazi style ‘Bund’ outfit is an insidious disease and Norquist is a huge player involved up to the hilt in it. He talks, they listen.

I've read somewhere that he's also inexplicably pro-"gay," even though islamic sympathies should rule that out.

I’m sorry to sound so down today. Seeing the fruits of yielding the education system in this country to the Dims is really bothering me today. Indoctrination, lack of a controlling legal authority in Life (morals), and peer pressure are killing us.

I believe it is in the withering stage now, and death will follow soon.

I will not miss it.

Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss (Ga.) cares more about his own ass than America. His political future trumps private growth, debt reduction, and the future. Guess the people of Georgia have a decision to make.

The Democrats are extremely evil.

The Republicans are mildly evil.

This country is following the exact foot steps of other countries which gradually morphed into socialism. The analogy is slowly boiling a frog in water. He has no idea he will soon be mortal danger.

Expect more spending, not less. People have figured out they like the free stuff and will keep electing those who promise the most.

Good news is most countries make a turn towards capitalism after suffering through ravages of socialism. So will this country. Bad news is it takes 30 to 40 years before the masses had enough and wake up.

So, do not get upset, you can’t change this big momentum towards socialism. Enjoy life the best you can. As your material standard of living gradually decreases, the more intelligent ones will not let that stop them from enjoying the simpler things in life...your family, sunsets, smell of roses, lighting wood in fireplace on a cold night, listening to great music, playing card games.....all cost so little.

After supporting Romney, Freepers can’t complain about RINOs. The conservatives just showed the GOP that we’ll support RINOs, even if they’re losers.

Rebranding is not a solution, it would lead to a vote split and huge democrat majorities and then when the GOP folds the new party would have the same old people in it. Look at what happened in Canada.

Winning primaries is the only solution.

Suxby is begging to be Lugared.

This type of poker game with Dems is very tricky.
If a few crazy House Rs start saying ‘Shut it down, shut it down, Default, Default’ like last years standoff then Rs will lose this for sure, again.’

The only way to win is to convince voters that Obama and Dems pushed us over the cliff. If O thinks HE will get the blame for the consequences then he will cave. That should be Republicans #1 goal, TO WIN.

The Republican circular firing squad is getting really boring to me. How about winning some?

RE :”Republicans are like women, can’t get along with each other. AHAHAHAHAHA.”

Exactly right.
I made this same point tonight to a fellow Republican after dinner.

We used to see Dems as the fractured special interest multiple groups who could not be united to beat Rs, but now it looks like Rs are the dysfunctional party.

I saw a post last night claiming that Scott Brown lost to Elizabeth Warren because he wasn't conservative enough. It was a small part of the post so I didn't jump in.
This is totally delusional. A state (MA) that elects Elizabeth Warren is not going to at any time elect a Jim DeMint.

Considering his state voters Scott Brown made many courageous votes and lost his seat for it.

“Yeah Saxby, I’ll remember it..nice of you to remind me.
Time for all the old goats to go!”

Like most RINO’s, Saxby looked down after the election and noticed that little willie was missing, hence his capitulation. They might as well close up all the men’s rooms in the Capitol frequented by the Repubicans to avoid “gender problems.”

Chambliss is a draft-dodging SOB of the first degree. He’s also a RINO that I have never had any use for. He might as well switch parties. The chickenhawk SOB.
