New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi has spoken publicly for the first time about his daughter's arrest and alleged heroin overdose at Hamilton College last week.

Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, 19, was found unresponsive at the Clinton, N.Y. school where she's a student. Investigators found heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a dorm room, but drug charges were later dropped.

Didn't take long for this freshman to get into trouble.

The country seems more concerned with Bon Jovi and Springsteen than the fiscal cliff and loss of freedom. Just sayin...

Sending her to “college” was his first big mistake. He should take her to a shrink immediately and have her deprogrammed.

And just exactly why does the press think that we give a smelly Obama about the worthless daughter of a rocker we also don’t give a smelly Obama about?

Wonder what she was “studying”....other than what drug to take next?

I’m a conservative and two of my three children got heavily into drugs. Children don’t always listen to their parents, no matter what their political beliefs. I feel sorry for any parent who goes through this nightmare.

Imagine showing up to school and finding your roommate for the next year has brought heroin to school.

Welcome to college!

Bon Jovi himself has had “problems” in the past.
The point is, YOU knew.
He claims he didn’t.

Actually my daughter was on meth for several years before I knew because I didn’t know anything about meth. She has been clean for a year and a half, has had the same job for that time and the same boyfriend for over a year. I thank God every day that she isn’t dead, because there was a time I prepared myself for “the call”.

Please don’t be so quick to condemn someone because you don’t agree with their politics. She is still his daughter and I assume he loves her dearly.

“Please don’t be so quick to condemn someone because you don’t agree with their politics. “

Actually, that’s the problem with this country at the moment.
NOBODY WILL DO THAT so we just “GET ALONG”.
And what do we have at the moment to show for it?
Boehner purging conservatives and going along with Libtardism.
And many people see nothing wrong with it.
After all, don’t condemn people based off tehir politics.

I say we should.
And Bon Jovi’s politics certainly did NOT help his kid any.

My daughter died in a car accident because her ex boyfriend ran her off the road.
She wasn’t perfect.
But she wasn’t raised by a moron lib with lib “morals”.
There IS a corrolation between libtard parenting and the behavior of the kids.

His politics DO play a role in this.
Just how much is teh question.

“I can’t imagine losing a child.”

I couldn’t imagine it either.
Then it happened.
And people questioned my parenting, questioned my values, questioned my right to be at the funeral.

My kid wasn’t perfect.
But she knew where I stood because I had a clearly defined right and wrong, black and white system as a guide.
And she did apologize to me when she did something wrong.

She was on her way to look over an apartment theday she died.
She was 19.

A friend of mine lost a son to cancer years ago. She told me there is always a hole in her heart the size of her son and that nothing fills it. She has a great life, two other boys and a Christian faith that is incredible. But she always has that missing piece and says she will always be that way.

That accurately describes it.
While hiking, there’s always an empty spot to my right.
There’s always this silence in my car from where she sat.
At the table, there’s always an empty chair.
And always, at the store you go, “Hey, hey’d like tha-.... oh yeah.”

Darksheare,

I am so sorry for your loss. A friend of mine lost his 17 year-old son on a two-lane highway; he was the designated driver and was going to pick up his sister at a party. A car in the other lane swerved into his and they hit head-on. Both drivers were killed.

He just wrote a book about his experience, “A Father’s Tears.” I want to buy it and read it—but I know I’ll be sobbing throughout it. Anthony McColl was a polite, friendly young man; it was standing room only at his funeral.

Whenever I see his parents, I can feel their sadness, even if they’re smiling. As you said later in the thread, there is a hole in the family that can never be filled.

God bless you. I’ll pray for you and your family.

Good point. I also don’t think teenagers should have “girlfriends” or “boyfriends.” Not today. Today it means sex, birth control and abortion. In the ‘50s, it meant giving fraternity pins! Kids need to pal around in a group.

Well that is the law if a drug overdose is reported the drugs found at the scene aren’t used to prosecute the people at the scene.

The reason for this law is to encourage people to report when someone is in trouble due to an overdose.

In this case the law may have saved this girl’s life.

So you’re trying to say that a child brought up by liberals in a liberal atmosphere won’t do stupid stuff without a second thought?
Yes, liberal parents do have a correlation with what their kids do.
Yes, Bon Jovi’s politics do play a role here.
The question is, how much of a role?

What’s to be shocked by?
That was the behavior exhibited by people at my daughetrs funeral.
Quite illustrative of the problem with society.

I also suspect that some people can’t stand that someone somewhere doesn’t like Bon Jovi because of his politics and correctly points out that his politics effects his parenting and thus the values his children grew up with.
