The Republican Party and stupid statements by some candidates are to blame for GOP losses in last months congressional elections, the former leader of a tea party group said Monday.
Dick Armey, who until recently led the conservative group FreedomWorks, said some GOP candidates said stupid things that party leaders should have taught them to avoid saying. He said Republicans had a lot of candidates who did dumb things during their campaigns.
Armey, a former Republican House majority leader from Texas, did not specifically mention controversial comments about rape by GOP Senate candidates in Indiana and Missouri that contributed to their defeats in November. Republicans had been hoping to win control of the Senate but ended up losing seats instead, and they lost strength in the House as well.

An old has-been poweratti trying to be relevant. Anything ‘stupid’ that was said in one or two selected MSM feted instances is irrelevant.
We lost this election through the auspices of a humongous number of so-called Americans that have become leeches, and through outright massive voter fraud in critical precincts in key swing electoral states.
Armey should just go off and fade away somewhere.
Dick Armey, you ARE a stupid thing.
You are a RINO stupid thing.
We hate, despise, and f*rt in the general direction of RINOs.
Go away and ...well...assume room temp.
election ping
We need to distinguish between dumb and stupid. The statement about rape was dumb. Saying Guam might tip over because there are too many people on one side is stupid.
There is a difference.
And Dick Army did his part to make it so.
Meanwhile that senile old imbecile Joe Biden never says anything stupid.
Lesson #1 should be STOP TALKING TO THE LIBERAL MEDIA
Actually, that happened twice in a row.
So, what is it you Mittbots have against Bushbots?
Peddle it somewhere else muwiah or whatever it is.
The RNC said “Screw the T.E.A. Party” when they didn’t invite Sarah Palin to speak at their little party on our behalf.
Preibus didn't do that ~ we lost 23 seats we could have had.
I think Preibus should be given a choice ~ display before him the instruments of torture. He may chose to stay and be punished, or he may leave. We are not a cruel people after all!
I keep saying the same thing since Angle gave the NV Senate race to Reid two years ago, and the some in the GOP seems to got worse since then, giving Dems effective weapons to use against the GOP.
Maybe the R party needs to create a charm school for the candidates so they stop blowing unlosable races by talking stupid.
Tips :Dont call the voters (as a group) : losers, lazy, soft, moochers. Dont accuse women (as a group) voters of faking rapes. No good comes of this. Unless you are a talk radio show host doing it, then its good for your $$$$.
Still waiting on your candidate to start campaigning ~ he’s the weakest candidate in American history. Didn’t say a thing.
However, I disagree that Armey is a big part of the problem or a RINO.
Armey is anything but a RINO. He is one of the genuine conservative leaders who has stood on principle for years. He is absolutely right that several GOP candidates - some of them very good candidates otherwise - made some incredibly stupid statements, that were then blown up way out of proportion, that probably cost them races that they should have won.
It is a shame that we don’t have dozens more like Armey still in congress.
Hey [you] Dick, send me a fund raising letter. I dare you.
He’s right. Nothing’s changed about abortion for 40 years. There’s no excuse for any politician that doesn’t have a stock, uncontroversial answer for every different permutation of the question.
