Obama Approval at 56%, Highest Since October 2009 [National Tragedy Effect]
Gallup ^ | 12//20/12 | Gallup

President Barack Obama's job approval rating has risen to 56%, by two percentage points his highest three-day reading since October 2009. Although the president's job approval rating has been in the 50% range for much of the time since his re-election, the new high point this week coincides with the aftermath of the Dec. 14 mass school shootings in Newtown, Conn.

The 56% average is for Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 17-19. Obama's job approval had reached 54% during the week prior to the Newtown shootings, but had dropped to 51% from Dec. 11-13, the three days just prior to Dec. 14.

The timing of the increase in Obama's ratings could reflect a broad-based public reaction to the Newtown shootings, similar to the "rally around the flag" effect often seen at the start of wars and other threats to national security, in which Americans rally behind their leader. It could also reflect the impact of the president's specific actions after the tragedy, including his attendance and speech at a Newtown prayer service Sunday night, and his appointment on Wednesday of a national task force to recommend steps that can be taken to reduce gun violence in the future.

With the benefit of adoring media. His numbers from summer 2009 through August 2012 were terrible, but he got propped up for the election run-up...although you are correct on the GOP side. They are terrible at the media game. Regardless of the headwinds they face, they play the game horribly. They use the wrong tactics at every turn.

Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and given him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the new wonderful good society which shall now be Romes, interpreted to mean more money, more ease, more security, and more living fatly at the expense of the industrious. - Marcus Tullius Cicero (106BC - 43BC)

"Right on. It is pretty hard - if not impossible - for the GOP to run on a platform of hard work and liberty when Baraq O'claus is giving away goodies right and left, freedom be damned."

Parading the corpses always works...for democrats and muslims. Stir up the emotions of the stupid and uninformed and they will get behind you, for a while.

I can count some family and longtime friends, fellow military retirees among this group.

All of this, the conditions, the actions of the democrat party, the simple-minded following of the populus, all happened during the FDR regime and his attempted trashing of the Constitution. History is repeating itself and there may not be a momentous event like a world war to pull us out of it.

The Republicans aren’t good at PR, but the blame goes to the members of the media, who have a shameless contempt for truth.

There are always "useful idiots." That's what every oppressive regime has relied upon. A "useful idiot" with a big megaphone is more dangerous to liberty than millions of ordinary ones, because of the ability to lull more people into a sense of complacency.

Those who wished to replace America's foundations in liberty may have found such a potential person, and they had prepared the way by systematically censoring the ideas of liberty from America's textbooks and its public discourse--efforts led by people who, early on, called themselves "liberals," and now, "progressives."

America, awaken! This decades-long battle for your liberty has been engaged. But, for decades, you have been unaware, and you have allowed the "dumbing down" of the citizenry, producing voters who do not recognize that promises of "redistribution" of your neighbors wealth to you translates to "slavery to government" for both you and your neighbor.

Your best weapon is contained in your Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which leaves all the power in your hands. Read them, amplify upon their principles and ideas by accessing the Founders' writings and speeches.

For a quick review of those principles and your nation's first 50 years under its Constitution, consult John Quincy Adams' "Jubilee" Address here, or a recent reprint of a 1987 Bicentennial collection of the Founders' principles, here.

James Madison stated: "Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant—they have been cheated; asleep—they have been surprised; divided—the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson? ... the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government, they should watch over it ... It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free."

Thanks. History repeating itself and not too many read or heed history or they just want the same things people wanted 2,000 years ago - to be taken care of with no responsibilities. Shame.

Cicero was phenominal ... likely one of the most intelligent men that ever walked the earth. Here is another of his quotes that perfectly describes what is going on today.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.

Looks like those big old fake crocodile tears Hussein cried are reaping rewards - Never Let a Crisis Go To Waste.

Now where are the tears for the murdered unborn and newly born children that are murdered daily?

And it doesn’t help that the only alternative being offered to the average public is the GOP Establishment.

When the average sheeple sees the GOP establishment they see Boehner, McConnell, McLame, Chambliss - a bunch of idiot hypocritical buffoons. I despise 0bama, but the GOP establishment makes me sick!

Here are my three questions for Benghazi-Coward B. Hussein Obama:

1.) Are you HIDING INFORMATION from the US Congress about the Benghazi Massacre?

2.) Have you been LYING to the US Congress, The Media, or the American Public about the Benghazi Massacre?

3.) Were you, as Commander in Chief, GROSSLY NEGLIGENT in your responsibilities to protect and assist those four Americans who subsequently were murdered in the Benghazi Massacre?

Impeach! IMPEACH! IMPEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
