If Im following this correctly, according to one spokesperson for the Marine Corps Band, at Mondays inauguration Beyoncé lip-synced to the national anthem but the band accompanied her live. However, according to a second spokesperson, it was the band who were pretending to play to a pre-recorded tape while Beyoncé sang along live. So one or other of them were faking it. Or maybe both were. Or neither. Id ask Chuck Schumer, the master of ceremonies, who was standing right behind her, but he spent the entire performance staring at her butt. If it was her butt, that is. It might just have been the bulge of the Radio Shack cassette player she was miming to. In an America with an ever more tenuous grip on reality, theres so little to be sure of.
Whether Beyoncé was lip-syncing to the band or the band were lip-syncing to Beyoncé is like one of those red pill/ blue pill choices from The Matrix. Was President Obama lip-syncing to the Founders, rooting his inaugural address in the earliest expressions of American identity? (The patriots of 1776 . . . gave to us a republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed.) Or maybe the Founders were lip-syncing to him as he appropriated the vision of the first generation of Americans and yoked it (preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action) to a statist pitch they would have found utterly repugnant...

The time of words is passed, Steyn.
You gonna start shootin’? Tonight?
Mark Steyn is a foreigner who actually cares about the demise of the west and articulates the descent with ascerbic wit.
Polemicists have their place. Steyn is the best, as others like Ann C have attrited or moderated or otherwise spun off course.
Rush and Steyn are the best we have on the frontline. Lowry and VDH, Levin and a few others are second tier, IMHO.
We need these voices out there to grab the few inquiring minds on the fence.
As Steyn might say, taking responsibility means taking action when it counts and not merely lip syncing that you have taken multiple identical metaphysical actions (Clinton) or physical action at some undefined future point (combat_boots). OTOH, combat_boots, having taken no physical actions that we are aware of in this thread, should ask him/herself: what difference does he/she make?
“As Steyn points out, “what difference does it make” is the perfect description of this administrations attitude.
They think they are untouchable.”
And — as of yet — who has succeeded in laying a hand on them?
Perhaps the epic battle over gun control will change that.
Perhaps not...
Something Obama might want to give some thought to.... The bigger you think you are the harder you WILL fall.
It’s still a war of minds, IMHO.
There are some minds and souls yet to be influenced. Be prepared for bear, but exercise finesse.
I’m a career state prison guy. You’d be surprised how many inmates listen to Rush, even though they’ll never vote again.
When you come to your senses and realize that there is no such thing as right or wrong without God, it changes things.
I bet you are wrong about them never voting again.
Well, they’ve been untouchable, haven’t they? These are the people who, led by clever scoundrels like Bill Ayers, have figured out how to play the system that so many here, and not only here, like to think was created perfect by the Founders. You can beat the casinos at blackjack and you can beat a democratic republic all the time playing by its rules. The Constitution is not a suicide pact famously said a Supreme Court Justice, so famously that I can’t remember his name, but it was a false if brave declaration.
That reminds me of the old Chronicles magazine cover "Don't vote, it just encourages them". Your inmates might be better off than the rest of us.
Guess you don’t know Kris Kobach...
Mark Steyn is hilariously brilliant.
Some of them are more squared away than people would ever guess.
Staring at your navel for 5-10 years can do wonders if a seed was planted. All the while, dealing with demon-possessed nut cases and gangs, etc.
We’ll see many of them in heaven.
They’ve certainly seen how poorly a central government can run a society when it has absolute control, and how miserable that society is for it, that’s for sure.
I know inmates who have been there the whole time I’ve been there (1983), and others who came in later who will never get out.
Some of them have a scrap of humanity left, not all, but a remnant.
The first shall be last, and the last shall be first.
