Is Fox News really different?
WND.com ^ | January 29, 2013 | Joseph Farah

For many Americans, Fox News is their “alternative” choice for news.

They’ve made it the No. 1 cable news network, largely because they believe its “fair and balanced” promotional slogan.

Many even believe Fox leans to the right and provides news they can’t get anywhere else.

But is Fox really different from the rest of the media? Or has it been successful merely at positioning itself as different?

Would it surprise you to know that individuals at News Corp., the parent company of Fox News, gave nearly six times as much money to Barack Obama than Mitt Romney in the 2011-2012 election cycle?

Would it surprise you to know that individuals at News Corp. gave more to Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., than to Mitt Romney?

Would it surprise you to know that individuals at News Corp. gave more to Ben Cardin, Democrat from Maryland, than to Mitt Romney?

Would it surprise you to know that News Corp. gave more than twice as much to Democratic candidates in 2012 than to Republicans?

Would it surprise you that this pattern was about the same in 2010 and 2008?

Would it surprise you to know that News Corp. gave far more money to Democrats running for both the House and Senate in 2012 than to Republicans?

Do the owners and top managers of Fox News and News Corp. not have the right to support any candidates they want to support?

Of course they do.

But the American people have a right to know where the hearts and minds and pocketbooks of their trusted news sources really are – especially when it comes to politics.

Fox News has certainly learned there is a vast public audience whose values and worldviews are unserved by the major media. That’s the secret to its success.

And - they are always faster, more correct, and have more depth than anything on TV.

You may have a point there. Sometimes I see something on FOX and realize I saw it on the internet a couple days prior.

I watch Fox Business more than Fox News. Varney and Dobbs are my favorites. Now if Fox Business could only snare Rick Santelli, I'd be in hog heaven.

I am really getting tired of FNC. Have not watched much of it since last November. Bill O’Reilly is Ted Baxter on steriods. Shep Smith belongs on MSNBS. Juan Williams, and Bob Beckel are insufferable. Geraldo is too touchy feely and emotional. The Fox business line up is much better with Lou Dobbs and Cavuto and the other anchors.

As for me.....would rather watch Andrew Zimmern eating bugs, Anthony Bourdain dispatching a pig, or Bobo squatchin than the clowns on FNC these days. And btw——The Military Channel is the BEST these days....far better than the so called History Channel IMHO.

Which one of the two, King Obama or Romney, would have done less damage to America?

Irrelevant; both are socialists and socialism is the poison killing America -- both prescribe lethal doses.

I voted 3rd party because I did not want to facilitate the poisoning.

FoxNews, the Missing White Chick Channel. They did nothing but cover one missing white girl after another.

Fox does present news not found on other channels, however, they think putting on liberals to lie to us is “balanced”. I don’t call being lied to “balanced”.

I catch Stewart Varney, Neil Cavuto, and an sometimes a clip on the Fox Business channel, but I never turn to FoxNews as it is nothing but a liberal entertainment channel.

It’s a business. Period. Sales are down because their customers became less interested in their product.
As for me, when Obama won again, I checked out from being a news junkie. I get most of the news I need right here as a lurker.

In the past month I have heard BOR once again say he was for
homosexual “adoption”.

He believes in abortion if the “mother’s health is endangered”.

He believes in homosexual marriages, saying “what difference would it make, it’s not going to affect me one way or the other”.

He was all for women in combat, saying if they can do the job more power to them.

He saw nothing wrong with sodomites invading the US military.

And there are still people that listen to this liberal blowhard and actually think he’s a conservative. Unbelievable.

the only person ever on Fox News that deserved any degree of trust was Judge Andrew Napolitano. when the judge started ending his news segments of how out of sink DC is with our Constitution and how the obozo is using his position in the WH to commit illegal activities (crimes), Fox got rid of him. To me, that said it all, I haven’t watched Fox News since.

until about 6 months ago, those of us who follow your example, using the web for news, have been a day ahead of Rush, Hannity etc. etc. Finally Rush started to mention Powerline, Briebart and others, then the others show joing in “a little.” but true libertarian and conservative ideas have not yet made the leap to politicians in office over 4 years, and certainly not to Fox News during the day.

Fox actually offers an occasional glimpse of reality - not available on most other channels.

(view it and weep.)

FNC has bellied up to the info-tainment bar and drinks, sitting just a bit to the right, alongside the other drunken media outlets.

News : Relevant and factual reports derived from credible investigative journalistic integrity and presented as objectively as humanely possible. Pretty rare occurrence in the USA today.

The only thing I watch with any regularity is Lou Dobbs. And maybe Cavuto occasionally.

fox could have been a real force for good in this country; truly informing it’s viewers of what’s going on and why.

But they chose the mainstream way, and their ratings will suffer accordingly. They seem to forget we can get all we need, and more, on the Internet.

I always say it, there’s a reason the TV comes first in TV news. They make money the same way every other network makes money: selling your eyes to advertisers. So subsequently their goal is to get you to watch for any reason no matter how shallow, any information they give you along the way is purely on accident.

Let’s not forget about Dennis Miller, BOR’s favorite weekly guest. Until 9/11 Miller was one of the biggest leftists in the country and his usual routine was making fun of conservatives. He says 9/11 changed him and he is now “conservative”, but of course believes in queer “marriage”, abortion on demand, and most any other liberal garbage you can think of. Lou Dobbs is the only reporter on Faux worth listening to, but he leans left on social issues. They got rid of Sarah Palin because she was a real conservative, who tells it like it is. And O’Reilly gets also gets a big laugh when he’s shucking it up with athiest Adam Corolla, whose about as funny as a root canal.

Then there is Neil Cavuto.......

People like to complain about Bill ORiley. Why watch him?

As an experiment I would recommend taping Neil Cavuto at 4:00 and watching at 8:00. He is hands down the best interviewer in the business and has extremely good guests with decently long and meaningful interviews.

When democrats drag out their talking points he rebuffs them and steers them toward what he knows to be the truth. He is not a hidebound conservative but he always gets good solid licks in.

If more of the super cons here who constantly knock Fox were to watch Neil, they would be enlightened.

I quit watching Fox a few years ago. During the Bush administration. I get all the news off the web now. I refuse to support any of the alphabet new organizations any more. I have never watched PMSNBC, MSNBC, CNBC. I have not watched CNN since the early 1990s. I simply refuse to give them the ratings. If I could watch anything and not support their other empire companies, I would. But, if you did that, you would have absolutely nothing you could watch because they are all tied to one of the companies one way or the other.
