New court paperwork reveals that prosecutors have unlocked a great deal more information from Trayvon Martin's cellphone, including satellite-tracking information that shows where it was in the days leading up to his shooting.
But if it also lays out the teenager's movements Feb. 26 — the day Trayvon was shot and killed by George Zimmerman — prosecutors have not released that to defense attorneys.
Defense attorney Mark O'Mara disclosed that information Wednesday in a new court filing, one asking for more time to prepare for trial.

Information from Trayvon's phone is one example. The Android-powered smartphone was found near his body, its battery dead, the night of the shooting. It's a key piece of evidence because a young Miami woman says she was on the phone with him moments before the shooting and overheard the conversation between Trayvon and Zimmerman.
Sanford police and Florida Department of Law Enforcement employees had limited success finding out what was on the phone because they were "locked out," the consequence of someone trying repeatedly without the proper password or PIN to gain access to its data.
The state then shipped the phone to a law-enforcement agency in California for more analysis, O'Mara wrote in his new motion, then sent it to a New Jersey company, which successfully unlocked the data in its flash memory, including GPS information that showed its changing locations.
What it found has not been made public.
"It shows you within 10 feet where the phone is," O'Mara told the Orlando Sentinel.
De la Rionda provided those new findings to defense attorneys Jan. 18, O'Mara wrote, but with a gaping hole.

Looks like Florida is going the way of Nifong in NC, with laughably transparent attempts to wish away all the evidence they have that exonerates Zimmerman, arrogantly thinking that nobody will notice or be able to do anything about it.
I wonder if it is standard procedure for the state to drag out cases in hopes of bankrupting defendants. If so, every defendant with a “not guilty” verdict should have financial recourse against the state.

Why is his phone tracking his movements and who has access to that information? Things to keep you up at night.

Then get a metal can with metal lid and pop the phone inside when you don’t want to be tracked.But you won’t be able to receive or make calls or play games or listen to your music or .....
Even this sounds fishy. I have to guess that the "someone" banging away on the phone until it locked was whatever LEO picked it up.
It is pretty well known when you are going to be tried by the federal gov’t, they do things like freeze your accounts to prevent you from hiring a good defense lawyer and make it easier to throw you under the bus.

Most mobile phones will do that, ping your location all recorded by phone company, which could be accessed by law enforcement doing an investigation... unless you turn off the phone AND remove the battery. Also if an malcontent or intelligence service was interested, they could send a bug, turn on the phone without one knowing, and listen in to anything spoken in the room around you. Israeli’s used to do this with regular phone taps, called a “glass”, so the phone would become a speaker.
Nice hi-tech stuff but what is on the cell phone will not help the prosecution one darn bit. This is disinformation, trying to cow the desfense

The battery was dead??? That's the first I heard of that. If it had been dead all day, there would be no data for that day, nor could he have had the conversation with the gal pal. But then, he wouldn't be carrying it either, so the battery probably wasn't dead. The cops just couldn't get it to stay on w/o the passcode.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors are stonewalling the defense, hoping Zimmerman will run out of money for the lawyer before they run out of wall. It's pretty obvious.
To date, just about everything the prosecution has uncovered and released about Trayvon support’s Zimmerman’s story.
But, when they eventually have to give up because they can’t make their case, where does George Zimmerman go to get his reputation and his life back?
