To kill Americans.

It’s not rocket science.

It is simple supply and demand...
Make the supply smaller...price goes up...

You could be right. Or they could be drying up every possible supply line out there while they try to ban ammunition altogether. Keeping the store shelves empty keeps shooters from restocking and when a few boxes pop up they empty our wallets with the extreme high prices. I really think it is a play to buy time for the effort to ban ammo. Then as soon as they get a ban in place they will destroy the billion or so rounds they have in stock because bullets are evil.

The latest Cheaper than Dirt sale magazine doesn’t even list ammo prices.

Montana Gold was supposed to have .223/5.56 projectiles in stock some time this month

At gun broker.com they seem to have lots of .223....At .75 cents a round...OUCH.!!

"Checked the local Walmart yesterday. They had some 12 and 20 for shotguns, looked like it was mostly birdshot, about 5 boxes of 410 left, and some 7mm. All the other shelves were empty"

Tell you what, whenever we get this jack legged SOB out of office, there is going to be one helluva lot of ammo in this country...Assuming we don't burn it all up defending our liberty...

I ordered some 357sig and 3 bricks of .22 from cabela's in late dec. I got the sig this week and an e-mail saying the .22 may be here at the end of feb...

That sounds like the cost of a full round ammunition, and expensive too. I am just looking for bullets. I already have brass, primers and powder. M193 bullets should be around 9 cents each. M885 should be about 10 cents each..

“Well,Mr DHS .40 shooter-meet Mr .308 marksman.Good luck,you’re sure gonna need it.”

Unlike most folks here, I actually stopped in at the local social security office and timed how long it takes these bureaucrats to act.

My data shows that they move very slowly, and it takes them five to ten weeks to move a document.

I extrapolated my data and calculate that the social security Rambos will shoot one bullet every two weeks. Based on the 1.2 billion rounds they bought, it will take them 4.5 billion years to shoot off their ammo stash.

casting... eh... I don’t know. I don’t like the idea of lead fouling my very expensive barrels.

fouling with cast bullets?

If you cast a mixture of wheel weights, tin and lead (in the right proportions) and water quench them it is not much of a problem. Especially if you keep the velocity under 1900 fps. You can also use linotype lead mixed with pure lead and tin too.

The lubricant for the lead is important too.

It is possible to electroplate copper on lead bullets. I have not done that.

But on the bright side, jacketed bullets are still available and there are a large number of companies that make them. Unlike the issue of brass, which is in exceedingly tight supply now.

I usually load Berrys FMJ for light target pistol loads. Other more expensive name brands like GoldDot for P+ self-defence loads. I got a box of Berrys 1000pcs .40cal 155gr round nose Friday for $118.99.

Thats after waiting in line outside of Hyatts in Charlotte. In the years past I could browse and strike up conversations with the staff. Now its a madhouse from open till close.

And I got the last box of .40 projectiles that had in any brand.

I might try those... They are a little cheaper than the Berrys I got the other day. Those are 1000pc box of .40cal 155gr are $93. I paid $119 for jacketed, retail, no shipping.

But those will surely be kept in mind when the others run out. Thanks
