Pope resigns: Peter Turkson reveals vision for the Church and 'alternative lifestyles'
The Telegraph ^ | 2-12-2013 | Malcolm Moore

Cardinal Peter Turkson, a 64-year-old Ghanaian prelate, is the bookmaker's early favourite to succeed Pope Benedict XVI. He told The Daily Telegraph Tuesday that his biggest challenge, should he be elected, would be to maintain an orthodox Catholic doctrine while "at the same time knowing how to apply it so that you do not become irrelevant in a world that has continuous changes".

Cardinal Turkson, who holds one of the most important jobs in the Roman Curia and has been repeatedly promoted by Pope Benedict, was quick to take a conservative line on gay marriage and other "alternative lifestyles".

"We need to find ways of dealing with the challenges coming up from society and culture," he said, adding that the Church needed to "evangelise", or convert, those who had embraced "alternative lifestyles, trends or gender issues". He added: "We cannot fail in our task of providing guidance."

The “heir apparent”, the “odds-on-favorite” almost NEVER wins a papal election.

In (some) Catholic prophecy, the Great Monarch is NOT the anti Christ. Rather he is the last great Christian monarch who will lead the last Crusade which destroys Islam.

I may have some of the time line wrong, as it is based off a book I read years ago on a whim.

I think that there is something about conclaves that recoils against those who are ambitious to become pope.

Oh, I’m quite sure he can say the Mass in Latin.

I think he is said to “understand” Latin, not speak it, because Latin is no longer a conversational language, nor is ancient Greek.

I thought he was supposed to be from Rome.

So the prediction is for Peter the Turinese?

:)

"So the prediction is for Peter the Turinese?"

"Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro (Peter in English) Evasio Bertone, born in Romano Canavese, Piedmont"

Prophecy fail.

You can check also, but I found that a native of Romana is Romanese, not Roman.

Look it up. Romano Canavese is in far northern Italy, near the French-Swiss border ... not near Rome at all.

Well, I don’t speak Latin. And this came from WND which I stated in my original post, not me. That’s why I put in the (I know, I know).

From what I understand St. Malachy’s predictions, or what ever they are, are pretty thin sometimes, and again, I don’t speak Latin.

There is a plan. And it will play out. The strangest thing about it is why doesn’t everyone see it?

This reminds me very much of the recent presidential debates. I thought at the time that the fix was in because zero didn't even try -- it was almost that he knew anything he said wouldn't make a bit of difference because he knew the outcome in advance.

I understand, didn’t mean to seem so harsh, been seeing so much of this lately that I’m a bit too short about it.

Bottom line Romana is not Rome - and usually, lately anyway, the one selected is not whom folks expect.

In any case, thanks for your patience with my lack of patience.

:)

I admired this Pope. I was overjoyed when he was elected. But it turns out he was a liar and a fraud.
