Limbaugh ‘Ashamed’ Comment Puts Sequestration in Right Perspective, Author Says
Official Wire ^ | February 23, 2013 | The Right Frequency

Posted on 02/23/2013 6:40:05 PM PST by TeaPartyJakes

After more than two decades of espousing patriotism, Rush Limbaugh reached a breaking point this week declaring, “for the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country.”

“I’m into my 25th year,” Limbaugh said on his program Thursday addressing the sequestration debate. “I can’t tell you the number of times this has happened. This hit me yesterday. I’ve said the same things over and over for 25 years. Whether the Clinton presidency or the Obama presidency, whether it’s a Pelosi speakership or Tom Foley, it’s the same stuff. It’s the same threats. It’s the same arguments over and over. Nothing ever changes! We just keep spending more money.”

Though Limbaugh has a history of saying audacious things on his program, the comment went viral, crashed his website and elicited outrage from his critics. It’s the kind of thing Limbaugh is known for, as explained in Fred Lucas’s The Right Frequency: The Story of the Talk Radio Giants Who Shook Up the Political and Media Establishment.

“Limbaugh does what he’s always done, which is put things in real perspective even if it seems over the top,” Lucas said. “In this case, he was fed up and sought to put the relatively small spending adjustments in the sequestration in the context of a $16 trillion national debt”

Limbaugh went on to explain, “We’re just not going to spend as much as was projected. It’s all baseline budgeting. There is no real cut below a baseline of zero.”

The Right Frequency tells the story of how Limbaugh’s career spawned an alternative media universe of other personalities also profiled in the book. The book explains how Limbaugh was an issue in the last presidential election and why Democrats once anointed him the “leader of the Republican Party.”

I am not ashamed of America, as an ideal ... but I can’t stand the US federal government and about half of the people that live here.

I am ashamed of the Congress of the United States, the Supreme Court and the President of the United States, I will never be ashamed of my country.

Nearly half the people in our country don't care enough to vote at all. Way more than half are so stupid they shouldn't vote. American voters are what chose our Congress, President, and indirectly our Supreme Court. Sorry but I am ashamed of my country too.

“I will never be ashamed of my country.”
_______________________________________________
Just what is your definition of “my country”?
I am VERY ashamed of my country...the people, and their government.
They elected Obozo the first time, and like total idiots, re-elected him.
You too should be very ashamed.

What does one do when Rush speaks the truth, rather than his standard Country Club GOPe Pablum?

It is time to admit that the establishment has no clothes.

Decimate means cut by a tenth. If that is what you are claiming is happening you are the liar.

Americans vs the moochers who look at Obama as their “mama!”

We can and will reverse this and will no longer be ashamed of this country and the moochers who are in it for themselves!

Take a stand America, shame the moochers for exactly what they are: “takers” not “producers.”

Exactly. The idea shines brighter than ever despite the filthy, hate-filled leadership at present.

But I am disgusted by that leadership, and I am ashamed of the slaves who willingly follow.

Part of the sad story is the fact that it's not only the $16 tril in debt, that's not including unfunded liabilities.

Secondly, why would it take 25 years for Rush to be ashamed?

That's a long time to carry the water.

We have spent, borrowed, and promised too much. The bills are now due, and the political classes that are supported on talk radio have no solutions, nor the courage to fix the problems.

I have been ashamed for years of my country for voting for the same tribes that do nothing and expect a different result.

RE :”To heck with multi-Millionaire Limbaugh. I am ASHAMED of him. He is spouting untruths about how Sequestration will not decimate our military. He is a selfish jerk who has no idea regarding what he is talking about.”

AHHHHH you Rush-party-crasher ! How dare you disrespect the 'conservative icon' talk radio host. Pox on you :)

I don't know that it will decimate our military but it seems designed and executed to be as disruptive and visible as possible.

What private company would save money by keeping the same employees but cutting back their hours? That is the most wasteful way to do it unless you are assuming a $$$ supply is coming in and it will be reversed, and so in that case you will need those same employees.

Republicans are not going to raise taxes to pay for another temporary delay of this as O demands, but they should point out how O is screwing the military like you are.

I think one freeper used to call Rush the old gas-bag. Rush is usually wrong.

The point is that Rush is deliberately wrong, and that is why he is paid so well.

In country! What don't I get, the fact that you are a moocher, or Obama is your mama? If cutting this government in the year 2013 by 44 billion, with only 22 billion being cut from the military is what I don't get, prove me wrong gas bag!

Keep your socialist talking points to yourself, if really does gets old, especially when your mama lines up first responders who are NOT on the federal dole (yet) claiming their services will be cut with this sequestration!

What an ass hat! Don't cry because you got your socialist feelings hurt! sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!

RE :”After more than two decades of espousing patriotism, Rush Limbaugh ,,,,”

GAG time, Rush does better $$$ when Dems win and get more power which means he is doing great now.

Talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh says that Sen. John McCain will score a stunning upset over Sen. Barack Obama and win the presidency on Nov. 4
[Rush] Limbaugh Predicts McCain Victory (NewsMax ^ | October 31, 2008 | David A. Patten, FR thread link )

“The enthusiasm that got people out in 2010, I'm seeing at every Mitt Romney rally. Romney's drawing crowds of 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 15,000. “The enthusiasm that we all saw in 2010 is there. The same issues that existed in 2010 exist today. There hasn't been anything that's gotten better.”
