Michael Sullivan defends shifting message on gay marriage

GOP U.S. Senate candidate Michael J. Sullivan defended his shifting message regarding gay marriage tonight as Democrats and even Republican rival Gabriel Gomez blasted him for flip-flopping on the hot-button issue.

“This is no flip-flop, no flip-flop at all,” Sullivan told the Herald in a phone interview. The former U.S. Attorney had strongly declared his belief that marriage is between a man and a woman this morning. By the afternoon, however, he had sent out a statement saying he wants to overturn a federal ban that denies benefits to spouses who live in states that have legalized same-sex marriage.

“Marriage is a state’s rights issue,” said Sullivan, adding that while he still believes marriage should be between a man and a woman, “People should not be discriminated against.”

Sullivan’s clarification comes as Democrats launched an attack against the Republican candidate — who is the only one in the special U.S. Senate election who is against gay marriage.

There is no shifting message. The message is this. God says in Leviticus that it is an abomination. People need to know what these perverts do sexually to their own sex. I am sickened by the thought!! Nope — no shift in thinking.

Gay marraige has got to be one of the silliest, most inane distractions in the recorded history of politics. The media has republicans dancing like puppets on a string.

Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh said Sullivan is out of touch with Massachusetts, which became the first state to legalize gay marriage in 2004. “One issue people in Massachusetts have decided is equal marriage rights for our gay and lesbian neighbors,”

We citizens of Ma. decided we support gay “marriage”????

Gee! I must have missed THAT one being on the ballot!
Oh,wait.....

....Massachusetts lawmakers Thursday prevented a citizen-backed petition banning gay marriage from appearing on the 2008 ballot, voting 151-45 to defeat the proposed constitutional amendment.

Considering that the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation looks like The Village People, and that they are *ALL* pro-abort, pro-gay, pro-tax, anti-family DemonRATS, that’s probably an accurate observation.

Someone must have converted him at lunch.

Yes, the MA congressional delegation looks like the Village People and will continue to do despite what happens in this special eleciton. People in MA are socialist true believers, the antithesis of the original John Adams.

Shame. I heard he was a social conservative and thought he might be an improvement over Scott Brown.

At least he's still claiming to be against gay marriage in ultra liberal Mass, compared to RINOs from "more conservative" states who have outright sold their souls to the RATs on this issue and are now no different than Barney Frank on this issue. Deborah Pryce and the other sellouts should get a free CD for their trouble:

Put down the broad brush and back away. Not all of us are.

I’m a bit surprised because Sullivan is widely believed to be the more conservative candidate. I will likely support Gomez.

What a wimp. He could destroy his opponents by simply saying he’s the only candidate who doesn’t want to force people’s daughters to shower with transgender boys, but as usual with Mass RINOS, he has zero conviction whatsoever. I don’t want him in the senate.

So the “Great Conservative Hope,” Gabriel Gomez, supports same-sex marriage? Hoo-boy.

Sullivan f’ed up by trying to have it both ways on same-sex marriage. If he believes that marriage should be limited to one man and one woman, as he claims, why would he oppose the federal law that does not recognize marriages that are not composed of one man and one woman?

Still, Sullivan may be the least bad candidate in the race. Maybe I can be convinced that conservatives should vote for Sulivan in the GOP primary instead of registering as Democrats and voting for the pro-gun, and sometimes-pro-life (but always pro-union and recently pro-gay) Stephen Lynch in the Democrat primary over the 100% liberal Ed Markey.

There is no discrimination involved.

Same sex arrangements are outside the definition of marriage.

It happens all the time. We set requirements for all sorts of actions behaviors and rewards. I can’t qualify for a minority based scholarship. Maybe I should sue.

It violates equal protection and its hate based.

There is no rational basis for it. But there IS for man woman marriage: it provides stability for children. If that is not a compelling interest, nothing is.

No it is not. It is concerning the most profound, fundamental, intimate “way” at looking at human beings. It is Morality—Good and Evil—and replaces God with Satan/Occultism. To force Sodomy as a “Right”—removes God from our Constitution and FLIPS “Good and Evil”. It removes the most rational religion in the history of man from the minds of children.

It removes Natural Laws from the table-—the very founding principle of “Rule of Law” (Higher Law) and Reason etc. etc. etc. In other words, it destroys the Founding principles of our very Constitution which is based on the “laws of nature and nature’s God”. That is why the sodomy push by the left. They want the Constitution—gone.

Reason and Faith were combined by St. Thomas-—it created the Age of Reason and the Enlightenment. Without the Laws of Nature, there can be no science, no reason). Sodomy removes Natural Laws—they are no longer “Fixed” like all the Founders believed-—and become “evolving” like the Marxists need so they can obliterate Mother and Father and make men and women interchangeable (Radical Egalitarianism) which removes identity from man and woman. The Nature of Man and Woman can never be blurred to little children who become confused and it warps their “thinking” which becomes irrational.

By ignoring this promotion of sodomy-—to a return to pagan/occult morality will destroy the “Worldview” of all children when they see two men on cakes it will warp their perceptions of human beings to a sick, evil, Marxist Worldview where human beings are treated as a “means to an end”. Homosexuality is immature and idolatry and rejection of half the human race. It takes maturity to “love” differences. It is the “herd instinct” to reject and hate differences. Marriage is the only thing in cultures that unite a man and woman—and it is the only system which allows children their natural right to have a biological mother and father, the proven Natural way to grow emotionally, healthy humans who can love the whole human race—not like homosexual cultures like Afghanistan.

All homosexual cultures are brutal-—because they dehumanize men habitually by their vile acts which removes dignity. It is like promoting Prostitution or Slavery to children. It destroys the concept of Good and Evil.

Homosexual marriage warps their minds and thinking of children in such societies that glorify Vice-— the example are the little boys of Afghanistan who are “PROUD” to be in harems and being sodomized by wealthy men for although they don’t recognize “marriage” they do promote and glorify sodomy, even bestiality. Little boys in these cultures, love their dresses and make-up and trinkets and can’t wait to grow up to have their own harems.

All homosexual cultures are rife with pederasty from the Ancient Greeks to the Samurai, etc. It is a “sick” system where morality of using people for selfish lust is “Good”. It is not love, it is idolatry.

It is all the Feminization of men and normalization of Vice to destroy Virtue—which is needed for Freedom.

Yep, I went to Gomez' website after Sullivan tried to have it both ways on this issue. Gomez is to his left and openly supports gay marriage because he's against "discrimination". His position on other issues also suck (on abortion he has one of those "personally" pro-life type weasel statements; on 2nd amendment he's "pro-gun rights" but supports "closing the gun show loophole", on immigration he says we should bring "undocumented workers out of the shadows", etc.) so I think Gomez is like a Bob "Dold with D" type politician and wants to sound "reasonable" and able to bridge the divide in politics, but in reality he will simply vote with left on multiple issues.

Sullivan is still probably the "most conservative" candidate in the race, but given that its Massachuttes I wasn't expecting anyone remotely good. I'd probably hold my nose for him in both the primary and the general if I lived there.

Could be worse. Florida is pretty GOP friendly but I don't think they've had a decent Senate candidate in decades. The times they do nominate actual conservatives (Kathleen Harris, etc.), they chose the suckiest one.

At the rate this country is moving leftward, I wonder if it will be seen as "extreme right wing" NOT to be a registered communist in 2030.

Hmmm. 2004. I remember the Presidential election that year. The RATs alleged it was a "smear" against John Kerry when Republicans claimed Kerry was actually in favor of gay marriage, but wouldn't publicly admit it. Kerry voted against a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, but adamantly denied he wanted gay marriage to be legal.

Is it still a "smear" to point out Kerry was working behind the scenes to enact gay marriage?

The poofters in the media need to explain to the viewing audience why an issue which encompasses 2% of the population TOPS (if they were to ALL get married) is so damn important and “evil” if you oppose it.

Pink journalists smear the opposition. They need to be outed as activists who push propaganda daily.
