Jihad Blows Up the Liberal Utopia
American Spectator ^ | 04.23/2013 | Jeffrey Lord

Posted on 04/23/2013 3:47:55 AM PDT by Lacey

Jihad has blown up The Liberal Utopia.

The visionary liberal land of political and social perfection.

President Obama is not happy — and he isn’t alone.

You know the place.

• The Liberal Utopia is a land where gun background checks prevent mass murder.

• The Liberal Utopia is a land where Islamic fundamentalists have changed their perception of America because the President travels to Muslim nations to give lovely speeches, believes that the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and elsewhere is a wonderful sign of an Arab Spring, and refuses to use the word “terrorist” whether his administration is investigating Ft. Hood, Boston, or Benghazi.

• The Liberal Utopia is a land where a 2009 presidential video proclaiming a “new beginning” in American relations with Iran will halt the effort to build a nuclear bomb.

• The Liberal Utopia is a land where the good intentions of Social Security will never bankrupt the Social Security Trust Fund.

• The Liberal Utopia is a land where the good intentions of Medicare could not possibility result in trillions of unfunded liability.

• The Liberal Utopia is a land where the War on Poverty was supposed to end poverty — and instead winds up sending violent crime skyrocketing, and, in the words of Thomas Sowell, setting up the American black family for rapid disintegration in the liberal welfare state “that subsidized unwed pregnancy and changed welfare from an emergency rescue to a way of life.”

One could go on …and on and on….spotting those will-o-the-wisp glimpses of The Liberal Utopia (Obamacare here, the Obama stimulus over there, the promise to close Guantanamo way back there) with example after example of this miserably failed attempt to find or create a Liberal Utopia.

Or what our friend Mark Levin deftly calls Ameritopia.

Very good article by Jeffrey Lord. Thanks for posting.

Totalitiarians work hand-in-hand and/or in parallel with jihadists. There are agendas to drive, things/people to control. Witness history. Witness current events.

Just curious. How would you have handled the situation?

I personally think the situation is far bigger than anyone has let on and potentially more dangerous. I’ve got serious problems with the “cower” in place order but feel that it could have been far more acceptable if the people were allowed to be armed. The warrantless searches are a whole other issue of wrong.

If it were me, I would ASK the people to limit their travel for the day if possible and to keep their eyes open.

According to Nanny Bloomberg the “interpretation of the constitution will have to change following the Boston bombing”.

Yes but the liberal “mind” is not open to reality. It will always go on thinking what it always thought in spite of proof to the contrary.

If those cops were as jumpy as most tend to be in actually intense situations (see all the shot dogs and heavy-handed abuse of innocents during ‘wrong-house’ raids), I imagine there would’ve been several police shootings of civilians during the course of the day. They’re not used to being shot at, nor are they used to having explosives lobbed at them. They don’t train for it and it undoubtedly scared them shitless.

I think reminding people that police can be potentially dangerous in these situations would be a wise move.

That’s not a slap at police. I think there are times when police should be dangerous but the public should be clearly reminded of it.

There’s a big difference between alert/weary and trigger-happy. Too often it seems these guys tend towards the latter. I’m convinced it stems from poor training.

Just curious. How would you have handled the situation?

A reasoned discussion about this question is underway at this thread:

Lots of good info by a FReeper attorney and retired cop.

Not hardly. These Dhimmilibs are NOT goin to change. Certainly not yet, maybe not EVER. Oceans of blood—even their own—will not change their minds.

The oceans of blood in the "killing fields" of Cambodia did not lessen the enthusiasm of American leftists for communism. They would rather die than admit error in their ideology.

Since the serpent offered the “alternate truth”,
people have been clinging rigidly to this “truth”
or to the real truth as God reveals it.

The alternate truth says that you, the human, are god,
deciding good and evil for yourself,
and defining your own righteousness.

That’s hard to shift out of.

Unfortunately the ineptitude of the contemporary conservative-GOP side seems incapable of making a strong enough opposition case.

For example what ever happened about the guns in Arizona. Did that just fade away, or get dropped?

Well, their POSHITUS spiked the ball with OBL and his kid got partly even then zero rushed to assure Saud Royalty not one hair would be touched of the three Saudis ‘supervising’ the Marathon bomb placement.

But that won’t erode their support or awaken their bludgeoned reporting skills... even though they know most future attacks will be on their blue cities.

Though I wouldn’t wish for anyone to be the victim of terrorism,

it is ironic, and tempting to hold it over them, that those who will be attacked are the ones whose policies tend to invite terrorist attacks.

It’s like the economic collapse - it’s tempting to desire that those who support the policies leading to the collapse actually experience the consequences of their ideology.
