Barbara Walters is saying goodbye to TV journalism.
After more than half a century in the industry, the veteran ABC News anchor plans to retire next summer, an ABC spokesperson confirmed to The Times on Sunday night. Walters, 83, is set to make it official Monday morning on The View.
And the network plans to make good use of her while it can. The legendary TV personality will continue to anchor and report for ABC as well as continue to appear on The View and anchor specials throughout the year.

We've been promised this before several times over the past several years. Personally, I won't believe it until it happens.
They keep promising and never delivered
Will she be retiring with her old bud Fidel Castro?
No one cares!
Ground breaking for what ...sleeping her way to the top?
Good riddance.
I thought she had died! My mistake. Hope the time is not far off though when she can “rejoin Walter.”
Hate to be rude, Ba-Ba, but don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
Aw BwaBwa, pwomise?

The only “groundbreaking” I want for this POS so-called “
journalist” whore is the one in a cemetary and 6 feet down.
She’s a disgrace to the profession (of journalism), but quite possibly a poster-girl for the world’s oldest one.
When I think of Maggie Higgins and Phyllipa Schuyler, killed as journalists covering the Vietnam war, I want to puke at the name of Barbara Walters.
Maybe Julius Streicher will be waiting at the gates of Hell to greet her as his kind of journalist.
The pig that boinked a US Senator and told
I was in the news business back in the 80’s reading trade publications where she was described as something that starts with a “B”.
Barbara is a diva to be sure who draws attention to herself.
Back in the 70’s when President Sadat was flying into Israel from Egypt Walter Cronkite thought he had the exclusive riding with Sadat on his plane when Walters came trotting down the runway to board the aircraft.
As a teenage boy I was infatuated with this lady but my
insanity has been slapped back to sanity time after time.
She’s shown her bias a lot.
I guess she’s no different from so many of us, wanting to get attention drawn to herself.
I remember back in the late 70s or early 80s, in regards to a Carpenter's Union strike on the East Coast, right after she got a $1M+ contract, she stated that the union demands were excessive because no man was worth $25/hour.
Walters is a smelly old dinosaur who should have been forced into retirement years ago. Even in her prime, she had no substance.
Fortunately, I do not watch any MSM networks.
The tributes to her will be beyond nauseating.
She has become a fossil. I am sure they gave her the “option” of
retiring before firing. They were nice to allow her to hang around a decade too long.
Oh dear...what will The View do?
Shovel-ready for damn sure.
Long past time for the old liberal skank to shut up and go away
