First Thoughts: The White House's terrible, horrible Friday spills over
First Read - NBC ^ | May 13, 2013 | Chuck Todd et al

*** Q&A time for Obama: Don’t be surprised if these two stories -- Benghazi and the IRS -- come up at President Obama’s joint press conference with British PM David Cameron at 11:15 am ET. Afterward, Obama travels to New York City, where he hits two DNC fundraisers and then a joint DSCC/DCCC event.

------------ On Benghazi, the White House is essentially leading reporters to believe they were ultimately refereeing a bureaucratic turf fight between the CIA and State. But they also, when questioned, claim they’d do nothing differently other than -- perhaps -- delay giving a public accounting even further in the hours and days after the attack. When it comes to this Benghazi controversy, the questions for non-partisans (because partisans are searching only for what supports what they believe): Why did State push for the big change in the talking points? Was this about pushing back on the CIA, because it thought the agency was deflecting responsibility since the Benghazi outpost was more CIA than State? Was this about State doing CYA regarding CIA warnings about diplomatic security?

Of course F. Chuck Todd misses the point by half. We know the regime’s response to Benghazi was a lie. EVERYONE knows the regime’s response to Benghazi was a lie.

We want to know who told American relief forces to stand down, we want to know why an Ambassador was allowed to stay in a place that did not meet minimum security requirements, and we want to know where the man who claims to be President of the United States was during the attack.

None of those things have anything to do with ‘refereeing’.

This would not be getting traction in the MSM if only Republicans were going to benefit.

The calls are coming from inside the house. When it was just Benghazi I thought someone wanted Hillary out of the way, but it appears Barry actually has some long-knives out for himi from within his own party.

This is what will happen: Hussein will give a fiery speech going on the offensive, where denies everything and ridicules his accusers. The media will dub him the comeback kid. Subsequent references to Benghazi will be called beating a dead horse and the story will fade away..

Second terms are a bitch, the GOP celebrating in early 2005 was very similar to Dems early this year(citing mandates) , with the party over soon after.

Arrogant pompous asses such as Obumbo eventually become
overwhelmed by their power and what they can get away with.
After all, the brain dead members of the public love them.
In a real world this catches up with them and they are destroyed...one way or another.

The majority of the American public has been dumbed down to moron level by a Marxist educational system and a Marxist media.
There are, however, cracks developing in the dam.
Prey to God that the damn dam breaks soon, and America is saved from this Communist scourge.

I think the whole strategy was simply to delay so long that whatever happened would happen and Obama would be able to say he had nothing to do with the response - simply because there actually hadn’t been one. I have read several times that while, in theory, some of the rapid response units could have left upon the decision of a military commander at some level, the commanders were intimidated because it would have meant crossing a border and only the President can give that order.

Obviously, it never came, and Obama is trying to give the impression that this was because he was sleeping his well-deserved beauty sleep and nobody ever woke him up because State, the military and the CIA were just so confused and were squabbling with each other.

In other words, his strategy was to do nothing, because doing nothing leaves no fingerprints. He didn’t have to give an order, he just had to avoid doing anything at all.

I think it’s going to be very hard to prove this, but I think the failure to protect our forces goes all the way up to Obama.

Excellent point! The MSM spent five years shilling from him as the Second Coming of the Messiah. It appears that since he’s now known to be an incompetent stumblebum they aren’t willing to take the fall for him.

It was all on you to actually execute Socialist Utopia flawlessly, Barry. But you didn’t so, time to reap the whirlwind.

I agree completely. However, the cross-border authority issue stamps Baraq with this one right in the middle of his forehead.

He can claim that he didn’t give a stand-down order and, in the finest tradition of Clintonian word-parsing he might be correct, but by refusing cross-border authority for rescuing forces, he is wholly culpable.

>> the Second Coming of the Messiah <<

Jesus just left Chicago
And He’s headin for DC
Well now, Jesus just left Chicago
And He’s headin for DC
Workin’ one end to the other
And all points in between

Took his junk down to Las Vegas
Guess he had to raise some cash,
He was talkin to the sinners
Who simply want to touch his sash,
And then he back out on the golf course,
Where he spend most of his time.

Oh, take me with You, Jesus

You might not see him in person
But he’ll see you just the same
You might not see him in person
But he’ll see you just the same
You don’t have to worry ‘
Cause takin’ care of business is his name

ZZ Top - (sorta)

Whistleblower testimony was riveting about the small force that was in Tripoli. (I take your large point, that Obama didn’t do anything therefore nothing could be done. But not doing anything causes the result that we got which was needless American deaths, so there’s that.)

But the clear testimony was that the Tripoli force was about to head to Benghazi and were no more than 45-60 minutes away, but suddenly they stopped because their leader was told he had no authority to go. He was and remains extremely ANGRY about it. As does the whistleblower, Greg, who was the one who told them, yes, you must go.

The force leader was quoted as saying that was the first he had seen of diplomats (Greg) having more balls than the United States Military (from whence he was told he had no authority to go).

That was inside Libya.
