Jay Carneys Waterloo: The White House spokesman flounders in front of a newly curious press corps.
By Charles C. W. Cooke
Thank you for that question, White House spokesman Jay Carney said feebly when, early in Fridays press conference, the issue of Benghazi was raised. And then he reflexively tried to recruit the questioner to his side. Look, Carney insisted, those darned Republicans are involved in an ongoing attempt to politicize a tragedy that took four American lives. Were not going to fall into their trap and ask questions of the administration, are we? Were not like those other outlets that are engaged in a pattern of spreading misinformation. Right, guys?

I keep expecting him to at some point just throw up his hands in frustration and go running and screaming from the room.
Dead man walking....
Gross dereliction of duty.
I would have originally been open to the incompetence argument with regards to the Commander in Chief's involvement in Bengazi. With info out now, I am convinced that Valerie immediately explained the potential election consequences of any violent escalation and bringing attention to a terrorist attack on our Consulate. I think the election concern influenced a "Stand Down Order" from the White House. The Video excuse for the cause was the second part of that. I think the root cause was political and decisions were made based on future poll expectations and election influence.
I asked [White House spokesman] Earnest to explain the meaning of deep background, as defined by the White House, for my readers. He emails: Deep background means that the info presented by the briefers can be used in reporting but the briefers cant be quoted.
In other words, you, who sat in on the "deep background" talks, can help spread the lies, but you can't attribute the liar from whom you got the lie.
My contempt for these misbegotten bastards knows no limits.
‘does Congress had the power to subpoena them as private citizens??’
At the next press briefing, he’ll be doing his impression of Chip Diller, the Omega frat pledge from “Animal House” - “REMAIN CALM!....ALL IS WELL!...ALL IS WELL!!!!!”
Generally, when politicians and their representatives say 'Thank you for that question,' it generally means that 'Thank you for that question is one of questions they dread most hearing.
It buys them a moment of time, a few seconds, to quickly compose themselves before coming up with, generally speaking, some stupid and nervous response.
It’s a shame that is being wasted on an old liberal.
Oh no you "dint"... Someone post a Zeta-Jones photo....
Carney is perhaps the most talented spin artist I have ever seen in public life. These are merely the consequences of defending the indefensible.
>> Or, I could just be wrong and he is really the conniving lying sack of sh!t he has always been.
Yeah. That one.
Don’t let that adolescent look fool you.
Like everyone else in the blue-lipped kenyan monkey’s administration, Carney is pure evil.
I love watching that little weasel squirm. I only wish Gibbs was up there also so he could feel the love too. :-)
Obongo’s”SpokesBoy”needs to GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the run up to this debacle, what we see is gross incompetence, complete disregard for the primary duty to protect Americans, no empathy for fellow human beings, and rank stupidity.
I have no doubt that the conversations you describe took place, and that political butt-covering quickly became the supreme interest.
Valerie Jarrett’s name hasn’t been mentioned by any one, about any of this, by anyone in the press.
So creepy thinking maybe she’s the real President here.
I figgered she must be bi-polar or something to wed Michael Douglas.
Actually it’ll get lots better for Carney. They’re dusting off a special seat at MSNBC for him as we speak.
