Epiphones are made overseas. Gibson and Gibson Custom Shop instruments are made here in the US.

I’m not wild about rosewood fingerboards either; the maple fingerboard on my Strat looks almost new while the rosewood fingerboard on my PRS looks grimy no matter how often I clean it.

I mentioned AAA versus AA+ because the PRS I played (a 24, not a Mira or Santana) had a very nice rosewood fretboard that looked and played almost like an ebony fretboard. It made me think of different grades of rosewood.

LOL! The maple fretboard on my strat looks like the one on Van Halen's Frankenstrat (except for the burn marks...). I got it that way, thought it looked kinda' cool, so I never bothered to try and clean it. Plays great, too, smoother than the rosewood on the LP.

My PRS is a CE24. I’m not sure of the exact type of rosewood used for this guitar; it uses the same electronics and body materials as a Standard but has a bolt-on maple neck instead of a set mahogany one, plus it has dot inlays on the fingerboard instead of seagulls. A pretty sweet axe in spite of the grimy-looking fingerboard. :)
