Yes, because we’ve never spent anything on infrastructure in this country. Ever.

Of course, the clowns on MSNBC will pick this up and run with it.

What happened to the nearly $1 Trillion we threw at “shovel ready projects?”

Most public transportation is wildly underfunded by riders with the rest of the tab being picked up by taxpayers with most of the funding going to overpaid unionistas and their pension funds.

The people mover in Detroit is only rider funded at a rate of around 7%. From what I’ve read, public transportation is considered a great success if it gets above 25% rider funding.

One of my favorite expenditures (/s) is sensors in parking lots that work with cell phone apps.

To make a case for poor infrastructure because of the Skagit River Bridge collapse is baloney. This bridge collapsed because of a over sized truck. Someone failed to determine if that over sized truck could fit under the overhead support structure. Trucks are going through that bridge at 70+ mile per hour. When that truck hit the upper support structure at the speed I think it did, the bridge will collapse even if it was a brand new bridge.

I can hear the Crats blaming the Republicans for the bridge collapse. The bridge collapse was a result of bad measurements. Whoever did the measurements should lose their job, not Republicans.

Tax dollars for construction labor costs must be spent at Union Scale.

In many cases that cost per hour is triple the cost of normal workers. For example a forklift operator on a highway project in LA gets $58.00 per hour.

This is about unions not saftey.

It’s more like “you Democrats wasted the money so we are trying to allocate what remains as wisely as possible... sorry your pet project broke.”

Looks like their state gas tax is almost $.56/gallon for regular and $.62/gallon for diesel. That seems like a lot and is certainly substantially more than we pay in Texas. What is this money used for?

I doubt McDermott is smart enough to know it, but he is using two of Alinsky's rules:Of course this disaster is the Republican's fault.

21 posts at the time I am posting this and not one clearly identified with as living in or from the state of Washington. Nor am I.

Another God denying globull warming fascist wearing a democrat party mask offering pseudo scientific solutions that in the end will and has cost you money.

I made comment 17 and I live in Vancouver, Washington where Oregon is holding a bridge replacement hostage to light rail.

Must have been a Republican truck...

No it must have been a Tea Party truck. You don't think the repubs are going to miss an opportunity to blast the Tea Party do you?

If a truck would have hit it 40 years ago, it still would have collapsed. It is just amazing how dishonest the Democrats are. It does need replacing but it is not anything like the collapse in Minnesota, and the collapse had nothing to do with its age.

I assume you are talking about the 2007 incident, 13 dead, dozens hurt, etc. If I remember there was an outcry that the infrastructure and especially bridges needed to be reworked across the country. This gave Zero the talking point that he would have shovel ready jobs if elected to fix these things. So what happened? Billions of dollars spent but nothing fixed. Thank you libs.

Rats have a short memory.

In 2009 they passed a massive stimulus bill to create jobs & fix infrastructure. This bridge was just as obsolete then as now, yet it wasn't replaced. Instead, the Stimulus was a political slush fund for the Rats.

I say we take the money currently spent on lavish parties & trips for Obama & fix I5. He can stay at the WH & DO HIS JOB! #$(^&^@%*^&%$%%$##!!!!!!

Surprized my comment was even read. That WA Rep making those claims must have an in with Politico is he a super “lib”? Lets have a little background on this clown.

He’s from far north of me, but all you need do is google (or whatever you use) Baghdad Jim McDermott and you will find more than you want to know.

It is a very socialist section of the state he represents.
