A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week.
The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) cited the incident in an interview as proof Republicans were blocking infrastructure investment to hurt President Obama politically.
“Well, they have clearly spent the whole last five years trying to tear the president down, but they have done it by throwing the American infrastructure and the society under the bus,” McDermott said in an interview with MSNBC host Al Sharpton.
“We have the most long-term unemployed that we have had since the 1930s and there's no excuse for that,” McDermott continued. “There is plenty of work in this society that needs to be done and all it means is that the Congress has to step up, put the money up, and we can have it."

Are the Dems freakin serious..the Dems in Washington State used stimulus money to do research on ANT FARMS and video games for elderly people..its THEIR fault the bridge was not fixed..they were told it needed to be fixed but they refused to..its not up to the GOP to tell the Dems what to do with the money..if they want to waste it on ant farms and video games that’s not their problem

Typical Democrat lies. Billions upon billions of state and federal dollars have been spent on infrastructure and will continue to be spent. If this bridge didn’t get fixed it wasn’t for lack of funds it was negligence on behalf of bureaucrats.

I keep waiting for the Democrats to claim credit for the new bridge being built across the Detroit river (by Canada).
The democrats were rabidly opposed to its building because they wouldn’t have control of the money or hiring.
I guess the bridge wasn’t shovel-ready.
No doubt if an earthquake swallows Washington D.C., it’ll be asserted by America’s Leftist propagandists - of whom there are countless - that it’s the fault of the Republicans.
In that case, however, they should award medals or trophies or something.
McDermott should be in prison.
If a truck would have hit it 40 years ago, it still would have collapsed. It is just amazing how dishonest the Democrats are. It does need replacing but it is not anything like the collapse in Minnesota, and the collapse had nothing to do with its age.
Yet, Democrats like Oregon’s Governor Kitzhaber hold bridges hostage to light rail. He is who famously says “No light rail, no bridge” in replacing the aging spans across the Columbia River between Washington and Oregon.
Hundreds of billions have been diverted to build light rail lines while bridges were left to deteriorate.
Stop holding bridge safety hostage to light rail
A truck hit the side of the bridge. There were two trucks. One a wide-load with a pilot car in front but none in back. Another truck was passing the truck and cause the truck in the right lane to veer to the right. That bridge structure is not square but rounded on the sides. The truck in the right lane hit the top of the structure causing the collapse.
The problem with liberals is that they get so damn used to lying that they don’t know what the truth is anymore..they can hear about some event that happens and the 1st thing they do is blame Republicans, its in their DNA they can’t help themselves..even when its proven to be total BS they can’t help themselves
