IRS turns over to Congress video of employees line dancing

The latest recording cost about $1,600 and was produced to be shown at the end of a 2010 training and leadership conference held in Anaheim, Calif., said IRS spokeswoman Michelle Eldridge. At a time when most government agencies are coping with across-the-board spending cuts by furloughing workers and finding other savings, that conference has become the target of a report a Treasury inspector general plans to release next week.

The report, called "Collected and Wasted: The IRS Spending Culture and Conference Abuses," will be the subject of a hearing Thursday by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, that panel said Friday.

"Whether it is the tens of thousands of hard-earned taxpayer dollars spent to produce frivolous entertainment for agency bureaucrats, or the IRS’s own admission that it targeted the American people based on their personal beliefs, the outrage toward the IRS is only growing stronger," Boustany said in a statement.

From CBS -

The videos were produced in the IRS's own television studio in New Carrollton, Md. The studio may have cost taxpayers more than $4 million dollars last year alone.

Maybe Hussein could end his own sequester with that kinda loot.

Why does the IRS own a television studio?

Clearly they are laying the groundwork for an incompetency defense. “We’re not evil, we’re just incompetent.” I think it could work.

I can hardly wait until these clown posse is in charge of healthcare.

it's a large organization that tends to keep their standards and procedures secret yet they still need to produce training films.

I suppose you could get private sector folks to do that ~ and if IRS put that out for bid they'd be hundreds deep offering to pay them for the privilege.

I know I'd like to know the real skivvy on how field auditors are supposed to work ~ third hand stories from the squirrels are so terribly inadequate, and they lie about who won!

Years ago the IRS spent $4 billion on a failed computer systems upgrade.

That’s the least of the reasons for disbanding it. The first, is that it’s a giant welfare organization - employees are put on the payroll instead of collecting welfare, but it amounts to the same thing.

Taxation and INTIMIDATION without representation. It’s all a BIG PARTY (at our expense of course) for the socialists until someone gets hurt.

DISMEMBER the IRS.

“When in the course of human events...”

“He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.”

http://www.irs.gov

http://www.usa.gov/directory/federal/index.shtml

BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM

“Socialism Is Legal Plunder” (Is 17 trillion enough plunder? When does it stop...in collapse or when “fundamental transformation” is completed?)

http://www.usdebtclock.org

“Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Thus the beneficiaries are spared the shame, danger, and scruple which their acts would otherwise involve. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons, and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim — when he defends himself — as a criminal.”

“But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.”

“Then abolish this law without delay, for it is not only an evil itself, but also it is a fertile source for further evils because it invites reprisals. If such a law — which may be an isolated case — is not abolished immediately, it will spread, multiply, and develop into a system.” - Bastiat

TREASON - “acting”/appointed/entrenched unaccountable bureaucrats (socialists) elevating to TOTALITARIAN tactics for the powers that be when the time is right.

Every major government agency has a television studio. You can dig into each structure....find the office, which typically is made up of about a dozen individuals. Go across DC, and I think you can find at least forty such studios. IRS, DoD, FBI, CIA, Forestry, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc.

What work do they do? Mostly internal videos...maybe some informational thirty-second clips which go out to local stations. Occasionally, they offer the studios to their big-wigs to do interviews with reporters.

A waste of money? Depends on who you talk to. I would make a guess that if you added them all up....with the yearly support costs, and the equipment costs....there’s around $100 million being spent on their operations, yearly.

So, Congress will emit a big smoke screen about diddly-squat abuses, and completely avoid the issue of the IRS targeting political opponents of the regime.

Lest we forget, ALL these scandals bloomed following the Benghazi testimony. They have been very successful in taking America's eyes off the most dangerous scandal to this administration, Benghazi.

Neither Hillary nor Obama will be touched by the IRS, AP, FOX NEWS, FBI nor the EPA scandals.

Benghazi, I believe, has the potential to implode this administration and should be Hillary's "Chappaquiddick", forever keeping her from the Whitehouse.

The video is a distraction from the damaging documents the IRS has failed to deliver. Good strategy on the IRS’s part, but not good for us.

BINGO! However I would extend that to 90% of the federal government. They hire people who otherwise would not be employable anywhere else.
