In other news , don't expect State Assembly/ Senate coattails like Tom Kean''s reelection in 1985. Maybe shirt sleeves.

Kean’s reelection victory in ‘85 was relatively shallow. He didn’t have the Senate (though it wasn’t up), and although the NJ GOP gained 14 seats in the Assembly for majority control, in 2 cycles (with Flim Flam Florio’s election in ‘89), those gains were completely wiped out. It took Florio to give the GOP commanding majorities (in ‘91, an astonishing 58R-22D Assembly lead), though the worthless RINOs Whitman and DiFrancesco pissed it all away.

Right now, it would take 9 seats in the Assembly to get a majority, which the NJ GOP hasn’t gotten since 1999. They need 5 in the Senate.

**rather Kean’s victory was commanding, his coattails were relatively shallow (and receded swiftly).

There is no way in the world I would live in the liberal hellhole that Christie has spent his years making even worse than it used to be. I also would not even consider voting for Christie to turn my country into what he has made his state into.

NJ is not a liberal hellhole.
The state has been suffering from an infection caused by liberals, progressives and their greedy friends.

It was people like McGreevey (D) (the embarrassment) and another guy (can't seem to remember his name /S)(also a D) who selfishly dragged the taxpayers over a cliff in their pursuit of other things.

People can say what they want about Christie. But he loves NJ.
The other guys were busy chasing other men, or looking longingly across the ocean to wall street.

I’m just curious because I do not live in New Jersey. What laws and policies has Christie championed that have made New Jersey more liberal than when he took over as governor?

NJ’s finacial woes started with Gov Florio borrowing 900 million from the PFRS (Police and Firefighter pension fund) to balance his state budget. Whitman criticized this during her campaign which unseated him. Then she turned around and did the same thing twice. She also went on a massive state hiring spree increasing the states workforce about %40 or so. Then she changed the funding formula which determined how much cities and towns had to pay into these pension funds. It was an accounting gimmick instead of trying to change the state laws, which she broke. She was a RINO. McGreevy and Corzine were useless.

Actually, you make a valid point!!! I was so ticked off at Christie, I started to bad mouth him.....and then I thought to myself, I better do a “Fiddler-On-The-Roof” assessment of him, before I go off the deep end. Christie has been tough on the public service unions in New Jersey. He is not afraid to take anyone on, if he believes it benefits New Jersy citizens, all of them. Could it be that he is working to pull in a Republican controlled legislature with him this coming November?

I thought this when Christie set the special election for the USA Senate in October, rather then on November election day. He forces the Democrats to spend chuncks of their capital, money & energy on a primary and special election, held in August/October of this year. He, then runs alone, winning a massive victory, because of two things his vast popularity and many Democrats staying home on the November election day!!! Thus, he pulls in a good number of Republicans with him, takes over the NJ legislature and positions himself for a strong POTUS run in 2016!!! Methinks....Christie has a method to his madness!!! We’ll see!!! Just thinking!!!

They weren't useless to the people that used them.

"NJ is not a liberal hellhole."

If there were some way to cede the corridors 10 miles on each side of the NJ Turnpike and the Atlantic City Expressway to New York, New Jersey would be a very conservative state. There is a reason why Republican presidential candidates always spend a lot of time here for fund-raisers.

Parts of New Jersey are a liberal hellhole -- but so is Austin, Texas!

Where I live in NJ we don’thide our heads in shame. We elect people like Rep. Scott Garrett who is among the most conservative in the house.
I can’t speak for the rest of this shameful state.
