And frankly, I would much rather have Russia controlling those Central Asian Republics than the Islamo-Fascists....heck give them the Middle East for all I care, they’ll keep the Muzzies in line much better than we could.

Snowdens.

The government has no right to my private communications nor any of the records barring a legitimate 4th amendment necessity as a matter of a specific allegation regarding my specific involvement

How are you to know what he has with him? Last I heard, he had three laptops full of data.

Should he have stayed here and waited to be arrested or murdered?

I wonder what the majority of comments around here would have looked like if this same thing happened under, oh I don’t know, a president Palin.

The problem I have with deciding is my belief that Obama himself is an actual traitor to America. When you're in a situation where your government is the enemy of the country, "going by the book" gets a bit murky.

I'll wait until I can figure out the motive for what he did, and for some sort of assessment if he actually damaged the USA or just Obama.

Putin may have his own notion of branding but he’s still a commie in my book. Just smoother and smarter.

Friends? Enemies? Hard to know which is which in this day and age. It;s much easier to know that which is useful and that which is not. Snowden and Putin are presently useful.

Oh I’m not saying you support it. And it’s true, the Founders stood and fought. But the Founders had the benefit of living in a nation that wasn’t fat and lazy and distracted. A significant portion of the country was willing to stand up and resist.

These days you’re lucky to get 100,000 people together at a rally in this country. In Brazil, 2 million just protested. Imagine what would happen here if that many turned up at the national mall to resist the NSA. That might make the future Snowdens a little bit more confident in their country.

Snowden because Obama lied so why should I believe anyone. He was saying he stopped the program, The other fools in Congress like lapdogs knew he was lying and said nothing. Who's on who's side. You have no rights to my records. Only a stupid investigation expands the profiles to everyone. Wed get nothing done if we ran investigations so stupidly. Don't kid yourself Obama doesn't believe there are terrorists but takes billions of private records to find them. Political fools

Snowden is irrelevant. Like Zimmerman, or "the dog-faced boy," such matters as their guilt or innocence, before the law or God, either way, is outside my influence.

My sole concern in regard to Snowden is the veracity of what he has revealed concerning domestic surveillance methods employed by the federal government.

The Snowden chase scene is a shinny object, useful only as a distraction.

Policy is at issue here. The letter of his oaths and contracts and Snowden's other liabilities are separate altogether.

Instead, we ought to be debating what compelling state interest the federal government has cited to open and copy all our mail, while it is in transit, and whether that is sound, even functional, as a strategy of war, notably as the Executive power promulgates policies based on the notion that we are not at war, that we have already won the war this strategy was supposedly designed to help win.

Self-government, and not for the first time on our lifetimes, is teetering on the precipice.

Do we "embrace the void," and ignore the blood and sacrifice employed to secure our liberty?

Has freedom become too great a burden, and for a hopelessly degenerate nation?

The government is not our nation. Governments come and go, but a nation, most especially one built on ideals, once lost may be gone forever.

All the hot air regarding his failure to go through “proper whistle blower channels” is just so much oral flatulence!

"He failed to use proper government whistle blower channels"?

I give that a 10 on the honking hoot scale..

Should he have stayed here and waited to be arrested or murdered?

He certainly didn't think so. But I don't see how running away defeats either of those scenarios.

Sing Putin’s praises if you wish, I just don’t see him the way you do.

Russia is not America. They have a different history, and what works for us won’t work there. Russians like strong leaders.

Should he have stayed here and waited to be arrested or murdered?

He should have flow into the corrupt cesspool of D.C., and faced those he revealed who where illegally spying on, investigating, and monitoring millions of law abiding Americans.

The honorable in D.C. would treat him fairly...Sure...No problemo.
