The Obama administration, already under fire for the IRS scandal and National Security Agency snooping of the computers and cellphones of Americans, is also spending millions to have private contractors conduct a dragnet for confidential and personal credit and bank transactions without a warrant.
Newly obtained documents from the Obama-created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reveal that the administration has OK'd a project to accumulate the personal financial data of some 5 million and share it with other agencies to build a "nationally representative panel of credit information on consumers for use in a wide range of policy research projects."
The documents obtained by public watchdog group Judicial Watch and provided to Secrets also indicate that those picked in the dragnet will be chosen randomly, meaning every American is subject to the raid on their information.

Looks that way to me... Just finished a bizz trip and stopped at Wells Fargo in Wa, ID, MT, ND, MN. Was not asked for anything other than my bank card at any of those WF locations...
Dono. Any credit card is traceable, AFAIK. I'll stick with cash.

Even if you have an account at the bank? And if you tell them you don’t have it on you, do they refuse to complete the transaction?
My bank isn’t asking for a DL. The fact that I have an account at that bank should be good enough for them.
Yes, they insisted they needed the DL, even though in person with checkbook, ATM card in hand. Of course they want it when at the drive up window, but never knew what they used it for until I went inside the bank.
They claim as in the doctor office “to prevent fraud”.
After expressing my disgust at the practice several times they don’t ask - at least not lately.
Lowe’s runs a commercial showing how they know what kind of weed killer you bought a year ago. And people think this is so neat.
If I was younger I’d go cash only. But I’m old enough now that it really won’t affect me that much.
They just look at mine, to be sure the name on the paycheck is the person standing in front of them. No stripe swiping.

Wanna bet Discover Card’s new “one time late payment free pass” is in part related to this? Sure, they all want you to pay online so they get their $$$ quicker but it gives the snoops one more back door. I had a recent talk with a credit card company that was so strange it had NSA written all over it. Made me a believer in cash only.
Lowes does much the same. I’ve heard from their employees to not give them any personal info and don’t use your credit card for a purchase. Do NOT use the My Lowes program either. The information isn’t secure and any employee can get to it anytime they wish.
The Texas Comptroller’s office was hacked a couple years ago which exposed every state employees’ info. I heard on last night’s news that someone is filing a law suit as if that will do anything to stop future hacking or gov snoops.
I was trying to cash a little $20 check on a Wells Fargo account at a Wells Fargo bank and they refused to cash it at the drive thru and made me go inside where they wanted my DL and my finger print. Really? On an account with them and for a lousy $20??? I - don’t - think - so. Another Wells Fargo admitted to me they never checked signature cards and that turned into a two hour mess so I’ll NEVER EVER use Wells Fargo.

At a recent visit to a new doc, for a family member, we noticed the HIPPA form had been replaced with a new form that says who all your medical info can be shared with...including law enforcement agencies. I asked if the form was new, and was told yes, "it's a new govt form".
If I remember correctly one of the TARP bills let the FEDS collect/look at credit card transactions. It was snuck in by one of critters in DC.
