Let it be noted that on this day, Saturday 13 July 2013, it was still deemed legal in the US to chase and then shoot dead an unarmed young black man on his way home from the store because you didn't like the look of him.

This guy’s in CHICAGO writing this? Why the fascination with Sanford, Florida when his own city is littered with dead young black men, shot over the course of any given weekend? Are their lives of no note? Is there no wrong committed when young black men kill each other? Maybe all this killing has logically led to others viewing young black men as dangerous. Maybe if the “black community” had been a community and saw to it that these young men didn’t become threats to each other and society as a whole, this conversation would be unnecessary. But no, perpetuating racial grievance is ever so much more important than any of that. Trayvon Martin was belatedly recgnized as a potential cash register, the full weight of the entire affirmative action-media-industrial complex was brought to bear, and they failed to convict. That must be a scary thing to those who don’t understand anything else, like, oh, I don’t know, actual guilt or innocence, facts, logic?

It seems to me that Mr. Younge must live in the Chicago of an alternate universe. The ‘facts’ in his opinion piece, differ dramatically from what was presented in a court in the Florida of this universe.
