The Republican Party wishes the tea party would go away, and would prefer a new base altogether, says conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

In an hour-long interview with Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren Tuesday, Limbaugh said the Republican leadership isn’t conservative.

“They’re not particularly crazy about conservatives,” he said, adding that members of the tea party can’t be controlled by the GOP leadership. In 2010, the grassroots movement rose up in opposition to President Barack Obama, but the Republican establishment didn't embrace them. …

Huh?

I was flipping back and forth, and only caught about 1/4 of what Limbaugh said.

Anyway for anyone, to confirm (or deny) this?

Didn’t see it, but it begs the question: What does Rush think of the Tea Party? Does HE wish it would go away?

Is he saying the Tea Party is somewhat revolutionary?

(I hope so)

Should have quit FReeping while Limbaugh was on.

Funny how that conservative thing works (for Repubs) during campaign season. After they’re elected, they go right back to pandering to the libs.

Yes, he did say something to that effect. I think it was halfway through.

I’m reading that differently now.

So I’m reading it now, that Limbaugh is supporting this change?

By extension, Limbaugh is supporting FR?

:D

Think I will wait and see what Rush has to say about it on today’s program.

I catch Rush on a Random basis, but he is definitely in the Tea Party camp.

Over the years Rush Limbaugh has become part of the Old Guard “Country Club Republicans” that he used to make fun of. Sellout!

Rush was taking about the Republican Establishment wanting a new base. They hate conservatives and now the Tea Party and wish that they go away. He for years said that at these cocktail parties most of the GOP tell him how they hate the social conservatives and recently said that they hate Sarah and other grassroots people.

That is hilariously ironic given your tag line was taken from Rush (he was the one who made the term “VRWC” a joke).

Rush is NOT a “Country Club Republican.: He has been RAILING at them to return to their Conservative roots and been pissed as heck that they have rolled over in the face of the sandals and illegal acts of the obozo administration.

Maybe you should actually LISTEN to his show from time to time.

That’s what worked for Democrats for so long. Pretend to be Conservative during election time, vote Communist in Washington.

Ehh, not so much. Watch the re-runs - he likes Cruz and Palin and thinks there is a war for control of the party.

It is difficult to recall the last time Republican leaders did anything that leaned to the right. Most of what they have done and are doing leans to the left.

GWBush did nominate Roberts, but Roberts turned out to be a disaster with his contorted Obamacare decision.

GWBush also nominated Alito, but only after a near revolt due to the Miers nomination.

The GOP has been running to the left for a long time. It is difficult to determine which are Dems and which are Pubbies based on their political actions.

I think just the opposite. Rush saw what the TEA party was accomplishing, and saw the GOP-E doing everything outside of outright murder to kill it. I don’t believe he had faith in anything until he witnessed TEA rising.

He is about to be re-born.

In today’s Mark Levin radio program, he was about to concede. He was talking about the ole Reagan/Blue dog Democrats, who seem to also be ‘homeless’ regarding their party.

Basically, he concluded that, if the ole Reagan Democrats and the Republican conservatives joined forces, they could run the elections because they would significantly outnumber either of the remains of the two current major political parties.
