Paul also explained that he had difficulty seeing any American interests in the Syrian conflict.
“I can’t see fighting to impose Sharia law in Syria,” Paul said. “I can’t see sending my son to fight with Islamic rebels against Christians. I also can’t see my son going to fight on the same side as al Qaeda.”
Under Sharia law, Paul noted, Christians would be persecuted for blasphemy, citing a woman in Pakistan who was jailed for blasphemy after she drank from a cup shared by Muslim workers.
“That is not something I want to send our boys and girls to die for,” Paul added.

Nor I. That's why this whole "We need to do something" coming from the Obama administration and the "We should have done something earlier" coming from the Republicans is so frustrating. I think that there was absolutely nothing we could have done at any stage that would have furthered our interests in the long run.
Elections have consequences. Words have meaning. Rules are made to be broken. Humans like watching games shows and reality TV.

What is the in the national interest of the United States Government in Syria?
Other than the proposed Mideast pipeline to Europe, what is our commercial interest in Syria?
How will lobbing cruise missiles into Syria and destroying selected sites help our national interest? Our Commercial interest?
Will it at least help to decrease conflict?
Bombing Syria to end violence is like having sex to end love.
I have been thinking the same (as have many other Freepers). My thought (and hope, and prayer) is they are allowing Obama to stick just one toe over "that" line and whallop him with impeachment. Last I read, 80%+ of this country does NOT want to mess around in Syria. Support for stringing zero up by his balls shouldn't be hard to come by and when the media tries to cover their boy wonder, start calling them out and ridiculing them for the "war mongers" that they are.
Pie in the sky to be sure, more than likely it's just our current congress being impotent as usual. We're in a real mess in this country.

Yeah, but he’s wrong that the U.S. has no interests in the goings on in Syria. This Ron-Paul-like isolationism pull-the-covers-over-your-head foreign policy is itself not in America’s best interests and is a vulnerable area in a guy who otherwise seems like the best guy out there for 2016.

Dad was a Marine in the South Pacific during WW II. we decimated most Japanese cities and most German cities. They BEGGED for peace.
We lollygag around he Mid East just like we lollygaged around Southeast Asia back in the 60s 70s. We have new improved smart bombs that don’t effect the general population. It does not work. Fight a war to win not to protect enemy lives. Our humanity is our own worst enemy. The enemy has no such love for his non Muslim fellow man
