WASHINGTON -- Anti-war protesters gathered outside the White House on Saturday to voice their opposition to a U.S. military strike in Syria, calling their picket line one that Congress shouldn't cross as it prepares to vote on the issue.
At least 150 protesters picketed the sidewalk in front of the White House and marched to Capitol Hill, chanting slogans like "They say more war; we say no war" and carrying signs that said a war on Syria would be "Built on a Lie."
"There is a grass-roots uprising against the Democrats and the Republicans," said Medea Benjamin, a founder of the anti-war group Code Pink. "We do not want another war," she said, underscoring the broad public sentiment against U.S. military strikes on Syria.
Many lawmakers in both parties oppose Obama's request for Congress to authorize using military force against Syria for a deadly Aug. 21 chemical gas attack the Obama administration blames on President Bashar Assad. Citing intelligence reports, the administration reported 1,429 people died, including 426 children.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee cleared the authorization measure earlier this week and the first votes by the full Senate could come Wednesday.

Code Pink playing inside-outside game. Heads their ally Iran wins. Tails their ally Muslim Brotherhood/jihadis win.
Well, stopped clock, and all that. On this issue, she makes more sense than Juan McManiac.
Move-on.org is against the war, too. They polled their membership and the vote was overwhelming against bombing Syria.
Yes, especially if they (and we) stop WWIII. Question: Has Sen. John McCain ever been right on any issue?..or was he at one time “conservative”...
Strange world. I find myself agreeing with code pink and move-on.org? Looking for the flying pigs next.
What the AP didn’t tell you about this protest, based on this story and the cover photo, is that the communists are leading it.
Code Pink is led by a communist sympathizer, Medea Benjamin (friend to Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein, etc), is bankrolled by another marxist Jodie Evans, and has been involved in every major anti-US protest in the past 15 years.
The banner on the top of this story was created by the Stalinist “Workers World Party”, using one of their fronts, “ANSWER” (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism”) as their medium. The WWP, once a Trotskyite party, has been the top supporter among the US Left for North Korea for decades, supported Qaddafi/Libya since the 1980’s, the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese since at least 1965, and Castro, Chavez, Morales, the Peruvian maoists Sendero Luminosa, the Sandinistas of Nicaragua, the FMLN of El Salvador, the ANC of South Africa, and the PLO/PFLP etc terrorists of the Middle East )now augmented by Al Qaeda and the Moslem Brotherhood.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but this AP story isn’t worth crap if you want the truth behind the story.
