Military Revolts Against Obama Attack On Syria
Investor's Business Daily ^ | September 7, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Posted on 09/07/2013 6:36:21 PM PDT by raptor22

Mideast: The administration's planned strike on Syria is increasingly opposed by many in a U.S. military coping with the scars of two long wars, a rapidly shrinking budget and soldiers saying we're "tired, stretched thin and broke."

That sentiment was expressed by an active-duty soldier with a rank of Sergeant First Class in an email to Rep. Justin Amash. The Michigan Republican has been receiving, compiling and tweeting emails from current and former service members now being asked to commit to an ill-defined mission with an unclear goal in support of rebels mostly linked to al-Qaida and other unfriendly interests.

"The message I consistently hear: Please vote no on military action against Syria," Amash tweeted. Most objections relate to the lack of a clear objective in striking Syria and the muddled line between anti-government rebels and al-Qaida-affiliated terrorists.

The backlash against boots on the ground or even wings in the air has exploded on social media. Many in the military are posting photos of themselves holding signs stating they'd refuse to fight on the same side as al-Qaida in Syria. The photos went viral, with one post alone generating more than 16,000 shares on Facebook.

"Our involvement in Syria is so dangerous on so many levels, and the 21st century American vet is more keen to this than anybody," Business Insider's Paul Szoldra quotes former Cpl. Jack Mandaville, a Marine Corps infantry veteran with three deployments to Iraq. "It boggles my mind that we are being ignored."

While watching a football game today, Noticed the new recruitment commercials portraying the voice of a recruit saying "I will obey the orders of my superiors". I've never before seen, read or heard of such thing in all my life.

No one prays for peace harder than military folk and their families. But, no one needs to feel sorry for them/us.

When Operation Desert Storm started, I was an E7, SFC. Platoon Leader in a Support Battalion. (Bullets, Beans and Gasoline delivered to the Front Lines with a SMILE!) My husband at the time was a Navy SEAL. (I have no idea what his missions were; and that was for the best...)

When we received our respective orders, we just walked into each others arms and cried like children.

Then we packed up our gear, said good-bye (for 2 years) and both got down to business.

I’m not for this war (or the last one, or the one before THAT) but, trust me; they looked long and HARD to find the whiners in this article. *Rolleyes*

"It boggles my mind that we are being ignored."

It's dear leader's credibility on the line here. Thus other concerns will likely be ignored. As for "the muddled line between anti-government rebels and al-Qaida-affiliated terrorists", here is a graphic from one rebel group that looks pretty clear cut to me:

John Boner can be reached at 1-202-225-0600; press 1 to get a staffer!!! Please share this number with your email list(s) an ask them to call.

I don’t have McLame’s number or I would urge a hundred thousand to call the disgrace. I’ve been told by AZ Freepers that he won’t take calls. Wonder why?

Look at this Administration. Has it ever mattered what the public wanted? We are run by elitists. They want to give amnesty to illegal aliens because it will help them, not because it will help the public. I’m hoping the public wins one, but I have my doubts.

Honestly! I'm so sick and tired of this whole thing.

Look, I'm old enough to have learned the lessons of Nuremberg. The military swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign or domestic.
I'm ready for them to fulfill their oath and pull a Cairo-style coup.

..... Hey .... Perhaps the military may be a little tired and a bit unwilling to fight an unholy war against all of the ideals of this nation ...... but has anybody stopped to considered how badly the feelings of the President might be affected if he doesn't get Congressional approval to start what may indeed spark World War III???

..... C'mon .... priorities folks!!!! Besides ...... if you are a career politician ..... you definitely have to consider that going against HIS Highness's wishes is considered to be raysiss.

My son got out over 2 years ago. He is no longer inactive reserve, but he's been telling me that the AF might try and force him back in just to go over there.

I told him there was no way in hell they can do that and to blow it out their ear. He's done his time, and he's out. Leave him alone Obama, you Muslim terrorist!

And yes NSA, I said that!

He wants WW3, and Congress may give it to him.

"...but has anybody stopped to considered how badly the feelings of the President might be affected if he doesn't get Congressional approval to start what may indeed spark World War III???"

---------------------------------------------->

(I get your s, but feel compelled to respond seriously. Hope that's okay!)

I wipe my ass with the president's feelings.

Where are his feelings for the people who have suffered under his reign?

For the unemployed, for people losing insurance, for underemployed people having to work two part-time jobs as a go-around to ObamaCare, for siccing (sic) the IRS against citizens who disagree with the president, for public groping at airports, for cutting down military funding but raising funds for Homeland Security, for failing to protect US border to the south, for immigration policies that make no sense, for destroying the economy, for giving the US a black eye internationally because of his bizarre behavior like bowing to Saudi King, etc, etc, etc.

Where are his feelings.

Whew! Got that off of my chest. Now I can sleep more soundly!

This is probably what you heard:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The Catholics in the military have religious protection under the constitution. They are not obligated to participate in an aggressive action such as this (as it thus far appears to be).

Conscientious objection. It takes on a true meaning when the Pope not only declares the action unjust, but, manages to gather 100,000 in St Peter’s square, as he did today, to pray for an end to this madness

If the military is revolting against Obozo, arrest him and the officials responsible for this disaster and ship them to Gitmo for aiding and abetting Muslim terrorists. Make certain these traitors are housed with the worst Islamists. Allah will know his own.

The military, each member, as does each govt electee, swears to protect and defend the constitution.
Aggressive moves like this, they are simply not required to participate in. The other branches of government enabling BO to be a dictator or not.

There are good reasons to enter a war. Saving face for a President or even a nation
is not a good enough reason to start a war.

That’s right.

There also are reasons for conscientious objection. When the Vatican backs one up, it’s binding.
