A Red Lobster waitress says that two customers failed to leave even a penny as tip on a $45 meal but left their two cents about her skin color.
Toni Christina Jenkins, 19, says when she returned to the table after dropping off the receipt, it read, "Tip . . . . . none. Total . . . N----r."
"We are extremely distraught about this and doing a complete investigation," Red Lobster spokesman Mike Berstein told the Daily News.

“Just trying to get her moment in the sun.”
Hey, just tryin’ to grab some spotlight like Shellie Zimmerman, Tawana Brawley, and Cindy Shehan. If they can get Jesse or Al on the case, who knows how far fame and fortune will take her?
There are losers out there that don’t tip. It has nothing to do with skin color. It has everything to do with them being a tight-wad loser.
Many years ago I attended a meal with a person I had known superficially over the years. She was good friends with someone I thought I knew.
We went out to lunch. During the lunch her kids smeared food all over the windows, the table, the floor... As they did this she pretended not to notice at all. The rest of us were horrified. There was a quaranteen zone five feet around the table in all directions. I kid you not.
At the end of the meal, we each chipped in enough to cover our meals and our tip. She handled the check. As we are walking to our cars, the waiter comes running out asking if he had done something wrong.
This woman had taken all our money for meal plus tip, and had left him absolutely nothing. It must have taken them twenty minutes to a half hour to get the place back to normal after her demolition crew was done with the place.
I called back the next day to talk to the manager, thinking the waiter should have someone on his side. He had already been fired for coming out and talking to us.
That was the last time I went out anywhere with that woman and her kids.
In college I had to host a huge restaurant at the top of a scenic casino and the waitresses would often either:
1. Beg me to not seat urban patrons in their section
2. Ask me to set them in the section of co-workers they disliked
3. BRIBE me to do either 1 or 2 above
Cuz they had a loathing for blacks, right? NOPE!
Cuz they’d all knew that they’d be barked at to run around for VERY many extra things, and then get NOTHING, in the end.
They are either very cheap, or see themselves as being historically wronged, and are evening things up.
I don’t know which of the two it is.
The experience was sharp enough that when I later read that hospitals could never get urban organ donations, I easily remembered it. In medicine, that’s very relevant, as there’s a huge factor of histocompatibility (tissue types don’t match).
Also historically urban colleges like Howard Univ are primarily funded by wealthy liberal Jews and Gentiles —that one really stunned me.
If you want to “be real” you jilt and RIP OFF your own people, also. It’s some really sick code, or something.
You can hate on Clarence Thomas, or any other black conservative, with impunity.
He called fraud because invariably these “racist episodes” are perpetrated by the supposed victim herself.
Forget the handwriting analysis.
I don’t see why somebody would sign a racist comment.
I’ve been told by waitresses that blacks don’t tip.
99% of these things that get media attention seem to be hoaxes
At least they didn’t “bash her face in” or “punch the next white person that came by”...if it even happened in the first place, which I doubt. Someone should ask Shorty or Chris if a word could hurt them.
I’ll wait and see, but my spidey-sense is tingling “hoax” right now.
blacks are known poor tippers
yep...from personal experience watching my wife count tips
“None” appears to be an attempt at cursive, written by someone who can’t read it.
The customer paid with check or card. This is trackable for verification.
Sounds like the customers were niggardly.
This just in, customer identified, denies writing the racial slur and has lawyered up (good).
“That customer and his attorney deny he had anything to do with it and say someone else could be to blame.
“Whoever put that on that receipt was very wrong,” said attorney Richard Dugger.
Devin Barnes keeps receiving threats over this, even though he maintains his innocence.
Barnes and his wife visited Red Lobster in Franklin on Saturday. Hours later, his ticket, including his name, part of his card number and his signature, wound up online, along with a racial slur.
Jenkins, who served Barnes and his wife Saturday, posted the picture of the receipt to Facebook, and the story soon attracted international attention.
Dugger provided Channel 4 News with a statement he says Barnes wrote by hand.
In the note, Barnes admitted he wrote “none” in the tip line and signed the bill, but left the total line blank.
As for the N-word, Barnes denies writing it.
“I do not approve of the use of that type of talk, not now or ever,” the note says.
The waitress will be back at work this week. In posting the picture of the ticket online, she violated Red Lobster policy.
Dugger said he hopes to soon hire a handwriting expert to analyze the ticket, the slur and his client’s handwriting.”
International news!! But not the 62-year old white guy who was attacked by a racist black in Union Square in NY or the white bus rider attacked by hateful blacks on a bus in Manhattan.
Just more bs
What “investigate”?? Is being a jerk (either the racial epithet or the tip-stiffing) a crime now? Just what is it you think your “investigation” might uncover?
Law enforcement?? Exactly what law is it that might have been broken here?
100%....NOT most....not 98%...but 100% have been hoaxes. (all anecdotal from me, but I keep a pretty close watch)
Like last years lesbian who was tied up in her basement...I called it from the get-go.
I don't think the percentage will go down with this latest one either.
