With President Obama speaking about his new federal health care law in Maryland Thursday, Republicans plan to hit vulnerable Democratic senators for supporting a government spending bill that included funding for Obamacare.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee plans to blast Sens. Mary Landrieu, D-La.; Kay Hagan, D-N.C.; Mark Pryor, D-Ark., Mark Begich, D-Alaska; and Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., for opposing a Republican effort to defund Obamacare in a new government funding bill. All are expected to vote later this week to strip the defunding provision from the bill.
"This weekend we will see the Republican Party stand with the American people and vote against Obamacare," a committee aide said. "Endangered Democrats will face a very difficult scenario and make their choice."
There's no provision in the budget bill that specifically funds the health care law, as that spending was approved when the reforms were first approved. Still, Republicans pushed the symbolic attempt to defund Obamacare and now say Democrats who continue to support the unpopular health care reforms are taking a political risk ahead of the 2014 elections.
"Landrieu will now have a small window of opportunity to either dismantle Obamacare once and for all, or double down on this costly overhaul," says an NRSC statement being issued Thursday.
Republicans view their Obamacare-centric strategy as politically deft: Polling shows not only that the health care law remains widely unpopular, but that it will be a driving political issue during the 2014 midterm elections. Republicans hope to use the issue to raise campaign cash and sway voters.

MAKE DC LISTEN: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE CLOTURE ON H.J. RES 59
We must oppose cloture on H. J. Res. 59, so that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats cannot sneak in funding for Obamacare. We need you to call your Senators right now: tell them to oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59 and remind them that a vote for cloture IS a for funding Obamacare.

Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants... bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society. Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors. [but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.
The RNC should be pounding McCain and Landrieu to help win the southern and western Senate seats on immigration.
McCain has no use to the RNC. I think Huckabee won many of the states that have a vulnerable Democrat.
I think the Democrats would be stupid to attack Vitter’s indiscretions. It will only help the opponents of southern Democrat Senators.
