Storm clouds gathering

Showdown at Capitol moves into weekend

WASHINGTON — Time running short, the Democratic-controlled Senate passed urgent legislation Friday to avert a government shutdown early next week, and President Barack Obama lectured House Republicans to stop “appeasing the tea party” and quickly follow suit.

Despite the presidential plea — and the urgings of their own leaders — House GOP rebels showed no sign of retreat in their drive to use the threat of a shutdown to uproot the nation’s three-year-old health care law.

“We now move on to the next stage of this battle,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican who is a face of the “Defund Obamacare” campaign in the Senate and is in close contact with allies in the House.

Barack Obama lectured ?

Why of course (sic) he is. He was a Constitutional Lecturer and just sees TP and House/Senate conservatives as students.

I cannot believe that someone posted an AP editorial disguised as a news story from the Casa Grande Dispatch, The worst newspaper in the history of newspapers.

The poll at the bottom right is running almost two-to-one in favor of shutdown.

You gotta love it. No, dear reporter, the House passed this first, the Senate refused to pass it as presented to them and changed it, and sent it back to the House.

Completely false narrative presented here right off the bat.

Oh Yeah!! Awesome post!

The GOPe are not the leaders anymore because they have betrayed real Americans that are not users and losers like most Democrats are.

I’m 63 but I’ll be damned if I ever trust another politician my age again. Especially if they’ve been in politics ever since they grew hair on their cojones.

I want some more like Ted Cruz...I want some 40 somethings that have a wife and kids and looking at what this country is going to be like for their little girls and their little boys and they don’t like what they see one damn bit. I want some bellys on fire and some frames standing tall and defiant. I’ll be there with them. And if what needs to happen is for me to forego something or to help out, I’ll do it.

I just want to see these socialist, foreign bastards and these inbred, ingrained politicians erased from our rolls. I want a sovereign country with real borders and I want these Muslim jihadists out of my country.

And, btw, what is so bad about a government shutdown? Sounds like a great plan to me!

Reid saying "his" Senate would not pass a bill that defunds ZeroCare, and the pResident saying he would veto such a bill is an explicit admission that the Dems are the ones willing to shut down the government. Only the media spin protects them from appearing like they would, instead laying "blame" on the Repubs for political purposes.

If (we can hope) a shutdown occurs, the Dems have already said that ZeroCare won't be affected. Strange, huh?

This line, right here, is why the Repubs always lose: they let the media define them. Instead, the Repubs should be shouting from the rooftops that it's the Dems refusal to negotiate and their unmovable stance on the unaffordable 'Affordable Care Act' that will shut down the government.

I have not seen any Repub actually threaten a shutdown to defund ZeroCare.

Like govenrment taxing, regulating and controlling nearly everything you do or touch, including healthcare...

Isn't it funny how they want to control everything except the borders?

The same punk who couldn’t get one vote for his proposed budget last year?

Boy, that gets totally forgotten, even for political junkies like me. This needs to be mentioned every five minutes by the Republicans. Of course, they don't call them the stupid party for nothing.

It is...And why some people need to be told, none of this is by accident..

The borders could have been easily secured and controlled decades ago, but government never had any intention of doing that.

Boehner should do this. Put a delay in to go into effect January 1, 2015. He should add funding for Keystone.

He should then hold a press conference. In it, he unloads on the media, telling them to do their freaking jobs instead of trying to work with the rats to shutdown the country and blame the republicans for it.

Then every republican goes on the offensive against the media.

Regarding constitutionally indefensible Obamacare, the House actually needs to demand that the Senate supports the House's resolution to propose an appropriate healthcare amendment to the Constitution to the states for ratification. Democratic and RINO lawmakers in the House have wrongly ignored this constitutionally required step to establish federal public healthcare for years, even after RINOs regained control of the House in 2010 elections.
H. J. Res. 30:
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right of citizens of the United States to health care of equal high quality.

Activist justices don't want citizens to know that only if the states CHOOSE to ratify such a proposed healthcare amendment to the Constitution will Congress actually have the constitutional authority that it needs to establish Obamacare.

I watched Ted Cruz during his valiant effort to halt the disaster called Obamacare. I hope you watched it as well. If he has used it once, he used the phrase “...we no longer listen to the people, our constituents...” over a hundred times. And he was right...they don’t. And the fact is, THEY NO LONGER NEED TO.

I’ve sent my little rant on this topic before but Ted’s honest comment compels me to do so again.

Dick Bachert
*************
WHY THE POLITICAL RULING CLASS NO LONGER LISTENS TO US!

Among others, Thomas Jefferson warned that the financial disaster we now face would be but one of many problems paper money would visit upon us if we allowed our “leaders” to remove the backing from the currency, to wit:

“When the servants of the people are paid with something other than that which the people themselves have produced (i.e. the real, tangible products of their labors or some fixed and real medium of that exchange), the roles of master and servant will be reversed.”

It was believed by Roger Sherman and a majority of those at the Constitutional Convention that un-backed currency would so damage the fabric of the nation that they ATTEMPTED to prohibit it with these few words at Article 1, Section 10, requiring the states to enforce the prohibition: “No State shall…make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts;”

If the people and their states grew inattentive to this matter (and they have!), Jefferson also saw this problem ahead:

In a letter to John Taylor in 1816, he wrote, “And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”

We have been “…swindling futurity…” for a long time and this is now where we find ourselves. If the government, through its banker masters at the Federal Reserve, can create “money” from thin air, they certainly don’t need ours every April 15th. That annual sheep shearing is simply an attempt to vacuum enough of the excess paper from the system to keep the rest of us from catching on to the biggest theft ring in the history of man. They have now created so much that their attempt is failing and failing badly to a point where all but the dullest among us (Obama voters and his growing cadres of personal and corporate welfare beneficiaries) are starting to “get it.”

If you understood that last paragraph, you can now make the small leap to an understanding as to why the “progressive” utopian welfare state hacks in Washington don’t give a damn WHAT you think. Their power to create all the “money” they need to fuel their infernal machine and fill the gaping maws of enough of those hoards of welfare constituents to assure their perpetual re-election means that — ready — THEY NO LONGER NEED YOU! They have become, as Mr. Jefferson predicted, our MASTERS.

That they are taking down a nation and a system that has provided more wealth, safety and abundance to more people than any other in history matters not to them. Failing to grasp the lesson of the French Revolution, they believe themselves to be above the impending disaster.

We’re running out of time to get this increasingly rapacious beast back into the cage from which we have carelessly allowed it to escape.

The Casa Grande newspaper? Seriously? I live right up the highway from them in Maricopa, and that paper is a notch above the Maricopa Monitor, but just barely, lol.

Keystone is an industry project. It has not been looking for funding, just the permits to proceed.

That's right, 80,000 jobs and a step toward (north) American energy independence, not asking for money, just the go-ahead.

They have held the permits up with every excuse they can come by.
